The most beautiful monument in the world!

Ok, so I just saw what I think is the most beautiful monument in the world. It's called the Akshardham and it opened on November 8th in New Delhi. Check out the website and if you're visiting India make sure you see it.

What, in your opinion, is the most beautiful monument in the world?

They're not monuments but the "buildings" that have thrilled me the most are:
1. Jain temples in Ranakpur
2. Borobodur

Yes, the new Akshardham temple complex in Delhi, inaugurated just a couple of weeks back, is stunning.

Akshardham - wow!!!

It is amazing that the thing was built in only 5 years.

Guess I'll put it on my list for my next India trip.

Just got back from India and have to say "Thanks a million" for this bit of info. We got up early after arriving in Delhi and saw this while everyone else was sleeping in, fantastic! We arrived early and sat in on the prayer services going in in the back part in a side temple. The locals encouraged us to go inside, terrific. Appreciate the info.

I must admit that this is quite impressive when seen on a computer screen, can’t wait to see it for real in a couple of months. Somewhat disappointed though, the web site says that no cameras are allowed; I understand that because it is a sacred place, but can a person get some good photos from the outside?

Yes memee, I agree that Akshardham is very beautiful but there are so many breathtakingly beautiful places in India. Personally, it's too difficult to pick the most beautiful structures. Tatersalad, you can get as many pics as you want from the outside. It's so magnificent and peaceful in the evenings. For anyone who goes, stay till the sun sets.
