One night stay in Osaka-hotel help

We will have a one night stay in Osaka arriving the afternoon of July 13th (from Koya-san). We leave the next day from KIX at 4pm.
Can you recommend an area and/or hotel? If you only had 1 night.....
We will definitely check out Dotombori and will want to shop for a few items to bring back home (kit- kats!) . My son is 14 so want a fun area or eating and shopping to interest him.
We are SPG members so curious if any of those options are well located for our arrival/departure and stay?

I stayed in the Osaka Bay Tower which was right by the JR subway line. Fantastic view over Osaka, and easy to reach Dotombori. I don't remember if there were shops in the hotel.

You could stay in the Namba area of Osaka to visit Dotonbori.

You will be using Nankai Raiways to get from Koyasan and the trains go to Nankai Namba station. There is a direct airport train from that station.

Friends loved the Osaka St Regis, an SPG property. The website says it is near the Hommachi subway station.

It is 4 minutes by subway from Hommachi to Namba subway station. hyperdia says it is an 8 minute walk from Namba subway to Nankai Namba station.

It would be a short taxi ride from the St Regis to both Dotonbori and Namba station. I would think that the taxi fare would be about the same cost as 4 subway fares. A taxi would offer good value for a group of 3.

You don't really want the Westin Osaka because of its location relative to your travel plans.

The Sheraton in Tennoji might work. It is served by an airport bus, unlike the St Regis and looks like it is not much further from Namba. Tennoji is 6 minutes subway to Namba.

The Sheraton website mentions Uehommachi station, a Kintetsu station, as being 40 yards away. But I cant find that station on hyperdia. Don't know how far from the Sheraton to Tennoji station is. I did read that Uehommachi is on the Kintetsu Namba Line.

Go to the Umeda Sky deck - fun for the whole family. The Umeda building is a short walk from Osaka station. There are truckloads of eating options under the building in the subterranean mall.

I figured out that name of the station next to the Sheraton is Osaka-Uehommachi. That would be the name to use on hyperdia. That subway is a Kintetsu train and goes to Namba station (which is still a 10 min walk to Nankai Namba station).

The Sheraton might be in Tennoji-ku but is not near Tennoji station.

It is within taxi distance from the Nankai station or Dotonbori.

Anyone familiar with Hilton Osaka? Asking because they have a flash sale on for the next 24 hours. Would this work well coming from Koyasan and wanting to do what I described above then leave for KIX the next day?

Yes, that works well. It is across from Osaka station.

I remember that KimJapan uses it after an international flight before taking the train back to Kanazawa.

I would book it if the price is right.

Am not sure if there is an aiprort bus to the hotel. I think there is. But it is only a block or so from a stop. But there is a JR L'ex Osaka station.

I should mention that I haven't stayed there, though I wanted to. The price was always better at the Westin - which is a shuttle ride from the station. The Hilton is a better location. Close to Osaka station and to Umeda.

In 2012 we stayed a night in one of the Western Rooms in the Hotel Ichiei and thought the room was particularly good for the price, which was at that time just under 18,000. The room was huge and very comfortable and the location very handy. Not sure if it's at the level you are looking at, I rarely stay in Westins or Hiltons or Sheratons or St Regis so not sure how it would compare.
