One day trip - Lamma or Cheung Chau
We're in HKG now (and before I forget - thank you Cicerone for all your posts - we've had a great time following your recommendations - more comments to follow!)
We want to take a trip to the outer islands but are having a hard time deciding between Lamma or Cheung Chau - the deciding factor will likely be food - best seafood experience? Any comments are welcome.
On our way to Kin's Kitchen for dinner - the sister restaurant of Yellow Door - we had a wonderful lunch at Yellow Door yesterday and are very much looking forward to our dinner this evening.

The most seafood and seafood restaurants can be found at Sok Kwu Wan on Lamma. If you want to just eat, then take the ferry directly there. [If you eat at Rainbow Seafood, they have their own fleet of ferries to/from Central and Tsimshatsui.]
If you want to incorporate a hike, you can take the ferry from Central to Yung Shue Wan, and then hike over. About 1.5hr walk.
Cheung Chau, like SophiaMaple says, is more developed. It's more interesting to see the temples, narrow alleys, fishing boats in the harbor, etc there. There are also some very easy walk (like towards Sai Wan and the Cheung Po Chai caves). I haven't had seafood in Cheung Chau for a long time, so don't have recommendations.

Elizabeth, would love to hear about your trip as we were wondering the same thing: trip to Lamma or Cheung Chau. Not sure if it's possible to fit both in one day and not feel rushed (CC for lunch and Lamma for dinner?. Both sound quaint.
