MALAYSIA Trip Report – independently using public transport

Hi. Within August 2008 I have been to Malaysia, travelling independently and using public transport. My route included the Crocker Range NP, Tambunan, Kinabalu NP, Kota Kinabalu, Niah NP, the Rejang river (from Belaga to Sibu), Kuching (incl. visits of the Bako NP, Kubah NP, Santubong NP, and Semenggoh WRC), Tioman island, Melaka, Taman Negara NP, and Kuala Lumpur.

When preparing the trip I used information often gathered at this site - to repay this help I have put a rather detailed report on my experience for others to use on the internet. If interested, check it out at at the following address:

Happy travels to everyone.

Thanks for your report!

We found very good food in Malaysia - both in the justly famous hawker stalls in Penang and in excellent restaurants in KL, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. It sounds, though, like common street food you found was not so good.

Hi Kathie,

Thnaks for reading myreport.

As for the food, it was good enough - just I had too big expectations after experience from other Asian countries. Comparing to Thailand or Indonesia, food in cheap eateries is not especially appealing.

Went to Malaysia 2 years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly, however we didn't manage to visit Borneo - perhaps that calls for another trip.

Lovely report, thank you for sharing!

Katerina

PS: my home town is Brno

Ahoj Katerino!

Pekne cestovani.
