Though I've never heard the song, it does hold a great truth: It is INCREADIBLY easy to get lost in Tokyo. Usually, the only street signs are displayed on major arteries. Building numbers are assigned in the order they were built. If you stray off the main drags and get turned around, you may need a guide to get home. Several years ago, we spent a night wandering through some of the back alleys. While it was fun, by the end of the night we were completely confused as to how to get back to the hotel. Of course, we figured, we can just take a taxi. The driver wasn't to happy to hear where we were going, but in true Japanese fasion, welcomed us into his cab. For the 200 yard drive home - up the block and around the corner.

The problem with a major city like Tokyo is there are so many tall buildings you feel like your lost in a very tall forest. You cannot see any familiar icon in the distance so you lose your sense of direction. This may sound stupid but I bring a small compass with me so I can get my bearings back of my directions instead of walking around in circles. Its really a wierd feeling.
