Is it safe to travel to Kyoto regarding Typhoons?

I am going to Japan next week, Sept 26th and plan to be in Kyoto in 2 weeks from my arrival (7th October). Should I be worried about the Typhoons going on there and cancel my trip altogether? It would be a waste not to go to Kyoto and see everything else, because I really want to see Kyoto in my trip and I don't want to postpone because of work commitments.

FCO advise not to travel to parts of the country, not all, and my flight with BA is still going ahead (to/from Tokyo)

Please advise
thanks

HT FCO is the United Kingdom's Foreign and Commonwealth Office which is the equivalent of the US State Dept. (I think). 'Are you serious' I imagine the OP is serious as around 500k people were evacuated from Kyoto just 3 days ago.

A week is not long, but if past performance is any guide, I imagine the Japanese will have things back on track by then...

The only problem you might have is if your reservation is at Hoshinoya as it is closed until November 18 sue to water damage. Most everywhere else is totally fine, and you won't notice anything at all.

Son, if you've not made Kyoto reservations, perhaps wait until arrival, try and get some updated advice when you land, and play it by ear.

I have been following the news closely and would have similar concerns to yourself I were going now... the typhoon has hit pretty hard and there has been quite extensive flooding in some areas of the region.
