i Lanka Tea Plantaion Stay

Am planning to visit tea plantaions in Sri Lanka. Famous ones are run by Dilma Tea maker. My aim is to stay at tea plantaions overlooking the tea plantaion in the nature. I checked Tea Trail package, but prefer to do it on my own. Any ideas on scenic tea plantaions in Sri Lanka? Also any suggestions to do there that are uniquely Sri Lankan. No spa, elephant ride, safari, please. The place I live have them all plenty.

The Tea Trails plantation houses are lovely. No spa, no elephant rides, no safari (tea country isn't really the place for safaris or elephant rides anyway). You do get a tea factory tour if you'd like. When we stayed at Tea Trails, we didn't have any kind of package, though all meals are included in the price.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you want to do it on your own. Are you looking for a plantation that doesn't usually host visitors?

Hi - My friends just came back from 98 Acres Resort & Spa and raved about it. They said the birdwatching was fantastic. There is a spa though ...

Hi Edokko,

the place we stayed about 3 years ago may be what you are looking for - an old tea planter's house set in the middle of a plantation. No spa, no commercialisation, just a beautiful garden, [including their own vegetable and fruit plot] views over the plantation, and lots of birds:

The food is excellent [they will cook what you want] and considering that there is no competition very reasonably priced. You can go for walks through the plantation, or have your driver take you anywhere you like, or have the hotel arrange it for you.
