How does Boracay compare to Thai beaches?
Like an awful lot of other people here we love Thailand and have been many times, we usually alternate the Gulf coast with the Andaman coast and in May we were in koh Samui, next year however we're thinking of changing to somewhere else and as we've already been to a number of places in SE Asia including Malaysia and Vietnam we were thinking about Boracay in the Philippines and are wondering if anyone can give us a comparison to beach resorts in Thailand. We like places that have a good choice of restaurants as we'll be there for 2 weeks and also good shopping. Is there a part of the Island that's better to stay, we like to be within walking distance of everything so I've already ruled out the Shangri La. I would be grateful for anyones helpas I've been dithering over this for some time.
Thanks
Thanks

likewise, Thailand is a personal favorite. i've been to Koh Samui, Koh Nangyuan, Ang Thong, Phi Phi, Similan many times in the past.
I'd say that Boracay is like a smaller version of Koh Samui. Samui, in general, has the better infrastructure, but Boracay makes up for it with its famed fine, powdery white sands!
Boracay was awarded the 2012 best beach destination by both Travel + Leisure and TripAdvisor.
stay at the area in/around "Station One", it's where all the action is.

Thanks everyone. keyser I saw that it was voted the best beach destination on Tripadvisor that was why I thought it might be a good alternative to Thailand, If it's a mini Samui I think we'd like it.
