Going from Guangzhou to HongKong?

I'm planning a trip to china, and i have a question about going from Guangzhou to HongKong. Can I take a train from Guangzhou to Hongkong or do I have to fly?

There are also lots of "direct" buses. Depending on where in Guangzhou you're leaving from, and where in Hong Kong you're going to, it may be better than taking the train.

Makes little sense to fly, unless you're connecting to another flight out of HKG immediately.

Thank you,
I'm sorry if it was a stupid question, I'm just not sure about China's security and Visa requirements.

Hong Kong has separate entry requirement from China. If you're going back into China after visiting Hong Kong, you'll need another entry on your Chinese visa.

Am I correct in thinking that I don't need a Visa to enter Hong Kong. I'm a US citizen living in Korea. A Hovercraft would be awesome, if they still do I will for sure take it.

You are correct, as a US citizen you do not need a visa to enter Hong Kong (or Macau, if you choose to visit). But do note that if you are going back into China after Hong Kong, you will need a double-entry visa to China or else you'll have to get another visa in Hong Kong to re-enter China - expensive and inconvenient.

No ferries between center Hong Kong and Guangzhou. There are some fast ferries between HKG (Hong Kong airport) and some areas near Guangzhou, but the buses have taken over most of the traffic, as they are much more economical run and have higher frequencies.

And most of the ferries in the Pearl Delta region are catamarans, with the exception of the jetfoils between Hong Kong and Macau. Hoverferries are all gone. There was never true hovercraft (like those across the English Channel) in this region.
