Ever stayed at the Royal Princess in Chiang Mai?

Has anyone ever stayed at the Royal Princess, downtown Chiang Mai? Any comments? Did anyone use their tour desk?
Would appreciate any info you can share.
Thanks,
Susie

For what it is worth, we stayed there for 2-3 nights about 5 yrs ago on a 2nd or 3rd trip to Thailand. Hotel was nice, but nothing special. We felt it was convenient but I DID get the best Thai massage of my life at the hotel. I remember staff as being accomodating. That's all I remember...and gorgeous flower arrangements in the Lobby.

Like k we stayed about 5 years ago and would agree with those comments. We had a deluxe room "then newly renovated" but the only difference from standard was that it was a higher floor. We asked for a double which was a mistake as it was much smaller than the twin rooms. Don't know if that has changed at all.

I have stayed there a couple of times in the last 3 years. I am booked in again in 8 weeks time. I find the hotel very comfortable and you are right in the middle of the night market. I haven't used their tour desk as I use a local guide, www.paewtravel.com I have always found the service to be very good. I can vouch for the thai massage as I could hardly walk after climbing the stairs at Doi Suthep and they had me mobile in a day.

I stayed there once awhile ago and found it very depressing and with very poor housekeeping. It is well located but that's it. I think you can do much better now.

I've stayed there. It is OK, nothing special, but very well-situated. Even if you don't stay there, you should get a massage in their basement. One of the best in Thailand.
