Delhi Hotel
I am looking for some suggestions for a hotel in Delhi for one night. We arrive late & plan on heading out early the next day. Have been to Delhi before so no plans to stop there. Really just want somewhere we can get to in a resonable time so I can be in bed & trying to sleep after the flight as soon as possible!!!! Don't want to spend top dollar for the likes of the Imperial but I admit to being out of touch with Delhi hotel prices it has been a few years since we were there. Can we get somewhere decent for 100 - 150 US$? Or do I need to reeval that?

I needed a reasonably close to the airport (an in and out, like you're doing) and went to the Lemon Tree Hotel in Gurgaon for about $100 a night, quite cheap for Delhi and a decent place. http://www.lemontreehotels.com/our-h...a/gurgaon.aspx

Oh, by the way, that's the Udyog Vihar one in Gurgaon; it's closer to the airport, I believe.
I also stayed in the very lovely Trident in Gurgaon, but, well, $100 wouldn't go too far there.
It was my reward after five nights in a $10 a night guesthouse.

The closest (and it's VERY nice) hotel to the aiport is the Orchid. It used to be called Uppal's Orchid before renovation. It's on the same highway as the airport and only about 3km away.

P.S. I didn't check the current pricing for the Orchid, but the location may warrant spending a little more. When we stayed there, the price included a driver to pick us up from the airport and return us the next morning. Further, since the hotel is on the highway, there's no fear of getting caught in any traffic. You're at the aiport in less than 10 minutes.

The "hot deal" for the Radisson for a random January date is about $260; that's about right for the Radisson from what I remember researching. (Currency conversion from www.xe.com )
Uppals is $197 for the same date. Hotels in Delhi are pretty pricey; if you can stretch to the Uppals you might want to do that. (LemonTree is less than $100, usually, but the one closest to the airport is booked for January already.) Or you could check other Gurgaon hotels for accessibility to the airport; it's usually an easier run in from there than through Delhi, from what I understand. Although, with it being early morning, it is a bit easier to get there, so even Delhi B&B would be doable.

If you are just staying at the hotel for the night and have to be out the next morning, geography is key. You must make sure you are close to the airport because Delhi traffic at peak times is a nightmare.

I totally agree that the location is going to be key for both getting there in a timely manner & getting out easily the next morning. Amy thanks for reminding me of the exchange rate I was thinking Thai baht instead of Indian Rs!! So I was a bit shocked! I am willing to pay for the convenience but I wasn't willing to pay 400!!!! Thanks for getting my brain back to the right country that helps a lot! J

Heya jules: Lemon Tree, Lemon Tree, Lemon Tree. I don't believe that it's booked out, unless you are really unlucky and have hit a wedding. Try with your definite date.
Don't fuss about traffic tho: you're in late, out early. Even if you stay at the Oberoi, it'll only take you 45 mins to the airport. Not because I'm doing any business, but because I just don't NEED a palace every night.

Thanks Dogster. You hit the nail on the head don't need a palace for one short night. I know we are at the height of the season so am expecting no big bargains!! I do like to look of Lemon Tree but its web site is showing full for the night we would want. Have you or anyone else ever looked at this place http://www.svelte.in/

Good find. Looks fine. Look on the specials. Use their airport transfer.
Anyway, you can always book and cancel and try Lemon Tree or whatever closer to the moment. I reckon they think we're all a bit strange making bookings so far in advance. You know how everything is on a much shorter fuse there?
I stumbled on Lemon Tree chain last trip. Totally cool, new breed India, full of young chaps in pony-tails. lol. Good internet deals.
