Christmas stores in BKK

I will pass trough BKK in december 29 and come back from Bali on january 9.
I need to go to a shoping to buy some lenses protectors for my camera and my wife would like to know if there are christmas stores. I will have only one afrtenoon/evening to go to a shoping so it would be interesting to be the same shoping to buy those things.
Do you think when we comeback on january 9 the stores will have christmas products ?
Besides shoping, which would be the best place to buy Christmas products ?
Thaks for your attention,
Fernando

It would be hard to find Christmas stores anywhere after new years. Thailand does not celebrate Christmas, although many stores will put up some decorations and sell expensive Christmas stuff imported from elsewhere.

As for camera stuff, there's a very good camera store on the ground floor of MBK Center. It's frequented by professionals and has good prices. There's no English sign so just look for a camera store down from McD's that's full of photo-journo looking types.

I haven't seen any Christmas stores in Bangkok although they are a bit obsessed with the Santa concept. There are lots of kids running around in Santa suits...and in that heat. I, on several occasions, have encountered large groups of Santa groups at various skytrain stations...singing Christmas carols. There are Christmas trees all over and very loud Christmas music playing throughout the malls. In Emporium Mall they sell plastic Christmas trees and there are huge decorated trees and lights outside of malls...it is beautiful, at night, outside of both Emporium Mall... and outside of Paragon Mall. And the Four Seasons Hotel has a beautiful tree inside. A Thai friend and her boyfriend used to drop by the Four Seasons whenever I stayed there to see the Christmas tree in the lobby. Happy Travels!

Try Emporium Mall to as they are really into Christmas at that mall. I can't remember off hand if I saw Christmas items...other than huge plastic trees for sale there, but they usually have lots of independent vendors set up in that mall in one big area...near the Christmas trees and they sell all kinds of things, so they might have a few Christmas items, too. When I get there next month I'll look as I live in the apartment building attached to the mall. If I find any, then I'll post to you. Happy Travels!

I have been to Thailand before. They usually don't really make a big deal on Chrismas stuff. They do celebrate their New Year and also Chinese Lunar New Year though. Since they have a lot of Chinese there. You know they have 12 horoscope zodiac Animals as a cycle. Pig, Goat, Rabbit...may look up www.proastro.com at the 2007 Chinese astrology forecast site
