BOSTON GTG 2013 IS UNDERWAY

People began arriving yesterday. Lcuy and bookchick were at our house for Chinese last night... the hot and sour soup was tangy and warm on a cool night. Lcuy came here directly from more service to the kids sponsored by the PLF in siem reap, Cambodia... GO LCUY.... among other things she taught the kids Hawaiian dancing this year. she brought us some small giveaways from Cambodia which K&I give to each person at the GTG tomorrow---last year it was Cambodian pepper corns in a woven straw box, and this year it is-----

tonight we are expecting 34 people at our house for drinks followed by a dinner. yikes-- a new brand is born--Fodors Sardines...

we are looking forward to an enjoyable evening greeting old friends from previous years and meeting new attendees who are joining us for the first time.

Off the top of my head the following states will be represented: MA, CT, NH, NY, HI, CA, IL, FL, MI, & PA.

Those who came last night enjoyed a wonderful evening of lively conversation and Karen's fabulous food! And thanks to mild weather, the big front porch eliminated any sardine situation.

Can't wait to see the new crowd at today's events, and to have more time to chat with those I missed last night.

Thank you so much, Bob & Karen for all your hard work and planning. Event #1was a rousing success!

Now on to Olivettis...

Hanuman, were your ears ringing last night? Your name was mentioned as someone we would like to see at a BOS GTG!

Last night's episode of the GTG was so much fun. It's always great to see new people, as well as the"regulars" at this week end event. I don't recall the last time I laughed so much. Karen and Bob are the perfect hosts for our October bash. Thank you. for all your hard work once again.

BenitaKaren, so nice to talk Paris and haircuts! Bill, I always enjoy your airline tips. Laurie, I want all the details on Air Berlin. Betsy, loved your stories about life in general. Lucy, always enjoy hearing about PLF. I need to go there some day. Nywoman, sounds like you are enjoying catering!

So looking forward to today!

On to lunch in a few hours.

Bob and Karen...thanks for allowing me to 'graduate' from the NY gtg! Dinner was wonderful and it was great to see you again. On to Olivettis!

And this seems like a sneaky of getting me onto the Asia board!

I still don't know what to make of that pesky camel...

I think I missed lots of the good stories last night, there always seemed to be a lot of laughing in whatever room I had just left. Hoping to catch more of them this afternoon.

We had a great time (even if we arrived a tad late). And we got in a great trail-walk this morning around the lake in Cutler Park. Gorgeous!

Looking forward to seeing everyone today!

Good food, conversation and company. What more could we ask for?

Thanks to Lucy and Carol for the gifts, and a big thank you to Bob and Karen for organizing the GTG.

Another fine fodors Saturday night dinner. Great choice, Bob and Karen. The place was ideal for our group. Lots more laughs and travel talk. Fodorites are the BEST!

Thanks, Karen, for recommending a new shopping venue, Frugal Fannie's. Oh my goodness, what a fun place! Glad I had an empty blue bag (which was filled with the goodie bags) so there is room in my suitcase for all my new stuff!

See everyone next year. Safe travels to you all.

What a fun weekend! It was nice to meet the new attendees and many thanks to Bob and Karen for all their hard work in organizing all the events and opening up their home to all of us. And thanks also to Lucy and Carol for the goodies.

I'll look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Maybe we can entice a few more to make the journey to Boston for this annual event.

Also, a thank you to Fodor's for the Fodor's Boston books.
