24 hrs in Hong Kong
Hi! First off, I want to thank all the previous posters on Hong Kong. You've given some great information.
My wife and I are leaving in a few days and spending 24 hours in Hong Kong, landing at 6pm and leaving about the same time the next day to continue on to Beijing. We're relatively savvy travelers so I'm not especially worried about getting around but I have been a bit paralyzed on choosing a hotel. Looking to spend between $100-225 US with the higher end being ok since it's just one night.
Since it's so brief a stay I'm more concerned about a good location so as not to waste time than high end hotel. We hope to find some good places to eat, taking the ferry, and maybe Victoria Peak depending on timing. Plan on going out that night for awhile before catching a few hours sleep and exploring some more.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and again, thanks to previous posters on this subject.

I stayed at the W Hotel which was right above a train station and shopping mall (Elements Mall). Great location. You can take the train from/to the Airport very easily and to the other parts of HK.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

You don't have to stay in a high end hotel in Hong Kong in order to pay a lot of money!
Many people would name the Salisbury as the best located hotel that isn't outrageously priced. It's a block or two from the Star Ferry. If you can get into it, it even has harbor view rooms if you want to spend a bit more.

The YMCA Salisbury, fabulously located, next to the Peninsula at a fraction of the cost, short walk to the Star Ferry and harbor view rooms for a small splurge, I've never stayed anywhere else:

yep, me too -the Salisbury it would be.
You get the train to the ? station, [sorry I can't remember its name, but others here will know] then the free hotel shuttle bus for the Peninsular where you will be put off at the back of that hotel; walk 50 yards and you're at the back of the Salisbury.
We had a wonderful view of the harbour, easy access to the Star Ferry, and they will keep your luggage till its time to go back to the airport the next morning,

I definitely 4th the suggestion for the Salisbury YMCA!
One of my favorite hotel 'finds' anywhere. If not sold out (it often is) I'd definitely try for an upper floor, full harbor view room. Talk about a million $$$ view on a beer budget.
