The best thing you can do is to figure out what "the best fare" range is for your trip and then continue checking religiously. You have to be ready to pounce when the seats hit the range. One thing that is helpful is to set up a "Fare Watcher" on www.travelocity.com and then bookmark it. You can also program it to send you an e-mail whenever fares change by more than $25. You'll be able to program five different itineraries, so you can choose several airports that you're willing to depart from and it will keep you posted. But I highly recommend that this not be your ONLY method and that you CHECK it yourself, rather than simply depending on the e-mail service. A day or two lag in your receiving fare info via e-mail could mean missing the best deals, which can sometimes be fleeting. Happy Contrails!

Was wondering if anyone noticed any patterns. Will consider flying into Honolulu but still want to stop over.

best rate I saw last year for what I am asking was $800 think it will be the same for this year?

Sarah, I am flying from Newark to LA then Lihue. Red eye flight coming home. I called my TC, she booked a package with air and car rental (I needed the car) and got something called bulk air. The price includes the car! Says your local can do the same for you if it's still available. I did this a few weeks ago. Hope you have good luck too!

I asked my TC again how she got that rate. It is not a 'fare' but a package that she got from one of her suppliers not thru the airlines. I didn't find anything like it online either so was thrilled when she found it. She does not think it will still be available as she booked me in January. But it's always worth a try so call your TC and maybe you'll get lucky too.

I ditto that one about searching for fares in the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes I can snare seats at that time. THen suddenly at 8 in the morning the plane is sold out. I think airlines pull inventory during the day, and replace them at night. keep looking!!!

dates are out of Philadelphia on 6pm flight so I can leave work and get down there. Will have child with us so I would like to get in no later than 10pm (SFO). Sleep hotel airport. Want a morning flight out to Lihue. Will consider connecting in Honolulu but want to be on the island by 1:40-2pm on the Aug.9

Returning only an afternoon flight from Lih or honolulu another sleep over would like to leave west coast at 9-11 any earlier and the hotel is a waste as we will be expereincing jet lag. Also do not want to arrive later than 7pm in Philly. Always best to have direct flights on all legs of flights.
