US-European connection at Gatwich--3 hrs. enough?

I posted this on the Europe board but it has disappeared once already and will probably be buried soon anyway.

We are connecting US-Gatwick-Copenhagen and back and hoping that, even with increased security, etc., PLUS transfering from one terminal to the other, the 3 hrs. connection will be sufficient.

Has anyone been through there recently? What's your experience?

3 hours should not only be enough time...but I should imagine that you'll have time for duty free and a few pints!
Thanks. If you could get through security, I'd buy you one.

I disagree with the poster who said 3 is plenty, to change airports, from HRW to GatW. a new regulation now you have to retrieve your luggage at transport it to the other airport and then recheck, a new security reg. thanks to 9/11. Before you could check you baggage through but not now. Also you have to get over to Gatw. 50 miles across London, if its at rush hour, could be rough. The recommended time now is 5 hrs. There is a bus called Fast Track that runs every 20 or 30 mins. and can get you there in 1 1/2 hrs. if its not rush hr. and the roads are clear. Check all this out, don't take my word for it but I have done this, flying from SFO to Nairobi. We made it fast but our co. had a taxie take us to Gatwick. Good luck, Buck
Buck, wake up. No one is talking about the Heathrow-Gatwick connection, just the connection between the two Gatwick terminals.

Sorry,
I thought the poster was talking about changing from LHR to LGW, anyway the information stands for anyone who is going from LHR to LGW. I will try to pay closer attention, thanks, Buck
Gatwick is a breeze. 3 hours will be plenty. Heathrow on the other hand is different. 5 hours might not even be enough there.
