IAD connection time of 1 hour 5 minutes for flight to Copenhagen.

Flying SAS from Florida to Copenhagen with connecting flight in IAD. SAS booked it (on one ticket) so I know SAS is responsible to put me on another flight if my delayed first flight causes me to miss my 2nd flight. BUT, would they hold the International flight for 15 minutes knowing the first flight is running 15 minutes late?
Can I make the connection if my first flight is late and I have 45 minutes to change planes? I do not see an earlier flight from Florida to IAD.
I would not have booked this short a connecting time but that is all SAS offered for my trip.
Thanks in advance !

That should be fine, unless there is some grave delay on your first leg.

I would look at where your flight comes in and where your outbound flies from. Make it easier to get around if you have some familiarity with the terminals.

Two yrs. ago we flew Air Canada from Chicago to Tokyo with a connection in Toronto. Weather problems caused our flight to be quite late and we got to Toronto with about 15 mins. to spare but AC did not hold the flight to Tokyo. I am sure they knew we were late and there were several people to connect but they did not wait.

I am not sure how this usually works but in our case we had to go out the next day.

I don't think anyone here can predict whether SAS will "hold the International flight for 15 minutes knowing the first flight is running 15 minutes late" on any given day - too many variables and those types of decisions are make "on the spot' by an individual who may or may not be sympathetic to your particular plight.

That said, in 30+ years of travel I've made many 1 hour hour connections and miss quite a few that were more than 2 hours so your guess is as good as anyones about what will happen the day you fly.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU INPUT !

Since it is a short connection and we are deleting one day from Copenhagen, I think we will fly to IAD the day before our flight from IAD to CPH. That way, hopefully, our flight to CPH will be without any issues.

What airline are you flying from Florida to IAD?

United. This way, no potential problems to deal with.
