EasyJet - How bad is it?

We have only one option for an inexpensive flight Basel to Berlin and it is EasyJet. Reviews are pretty bad but we would like to avoid wasting 8 hours on the train.

Any input appreciated!

I'm surprised that the reviews are bad. I have used Easyjet several times, most recently to Copenhagen a week or so back. I can't think of anything "bad"; you do have to observe the rules about baggage and check in times etc, it can be a scramble to get a seat but you can purchase speedy boarding. You have to purchase food onboard. They are used by business travellers as well, their hand luggage allowance is quite generous - but it is one piece only and it's strictly enforced.

Easyjet is just fine, thank you.

They only catch is to absolutely follow their baggage rules.

I'll be using them again next spring.

Count me as an Easyjet fan. I have flown them many times and I do recommend the speedy boarding.

EasyJet has allocated seats now.

It has cramped seating, and you fly from one place to another - not much different than a regional jet with poor legroom in the US.

Has anyone flown EasyJet from Budapest to Paris?

Add me to the easyJet supporters' list. You get what you pay for and all the charges are clearly spelled out. That lets the customer make the choices. While there is some carping about what appear to be a pile of fees, the bottom line where the total cost is added up is what counts.
Note a post made a few days ago about its soon-to-be-instigated policy of assigning all seats.

Our family has used Easy Jet numerous times and although it is a discount carrier with its quirks it is fine. We have flown them from LGW or back to Egypt,Jordan,Morocco and the Canary Islands in the past Christmas seasons. It is alot like Southwest with other things thrown in like lottery ticket purchases;sandwiches heated up in a microwave for sale, etc. You will be fine with your choice!

I don't have anything against Easyjet, but when you add in the time it takes to get to and from the airports, and how much ahead of time you have to get to the airport, the train may not look so bad. It's seven hours if you leave in the morning, and you get to enjoy the scenery.

I also have used Easyjet many times and find no problems with them except their airports are not always convenient. Play by their rules and they are just fine. Might also recheck the train as mentioned above as train trips into Switzerland can be very scenic and the costs may be competitive and you might not waste as much time as you think.

I have used Easy Jet from Geneva to Gatwick and Geneva to Edinburgh. I bought early, got a good price, but got trapped by currency. I was onboard the Geneva to Gatwick flight with only US dollars. They were not welcome, so I was virtually destitute until a young Brit came to my rescue and bought me a soda.

The baggage rules are enforced, so know them. Also the seat scramble can be fun if you are young. I am beating on 80 and don't feel like scrambling like a 20 year old. If you are slow like I am, buy the advanced boarding.

Read the fine print and follow the rules and it is fine. Almost pleasant, actually. I have flow them several times and will do so again.

EasyJet actually uses mostly normal, major airports, that are not out of the way. Perhaps people are confusing it with Ryanair in that respect. Take a look at the list of airports if you don't believe me.

I think Easyjet is great. Reminds me of Southwest in the states. I have flown it many times and in June went from Paris to Venice on it and then Venice to London. I have never purchased easy boarding, but do prepay for my baggage.

Decided to book and now having issues using my USA credit cards. I called and was on the phone with UK for 45 minutes and not one of my cards could be processed. Tried AMEX, VISA, debit. They were very nice and said they would call me back but still no reservations.

Did you call your card issuer to tell them that you would be making a foreign transaction?

I make charges for foreign hotels often with no issues. Amex shows no attempt to charge my card.

For anyone else that has this problem, I finally spoke to someone who told me I could not charge in USD only in Euro. That worked and could have saved me two hours and many calls today.
