Codeshare AA/BA flight with a child and seat selection ?

DD (3yrs old) and I are flying LHR-IAH in a few weeks - booked on AA but the flights are operated by BA in both directions.

From what I can find on BA's website, those travelling with a child will have 'appropriate seats preselected, 3 days prior to flight time".

At check-in online, 24 hrs prior to flight time, will I be able to make any changes to those pre-selected seats, or are we stuck with what they give us? Thanks!

You need to get BA's record locator (six letters/numbers - Amadeus, as opposed to AA's - six letters only - Sabre) then log onto BA and go to "manage my booking." You ought to be able to change seats at T-24, but sometimes codeshare bookings get wonky with AA/BA. You might need to phone BA to get their locator.

Thanks for the tips - I'll make sure and do that.

Totally agree w/Gardyloo. I had to call to get BA locator #, but no problems after that.

Just following up - I logged on to AA this morning to get my record locator so I could call BA. There was a new option on my flight info that said "choose seats" - that button automatically re-directed me to BA's seat selection (for a fee) page, along with a note confirming that families will have seats pre-selected 5 days prior to flight, but at T-24, I will still be able to change those seats if desired. Not sure why this didn't pop up until now, but hope someone else finds this helpful.

In our case, BA/AA put our family in the last row with no reclining seats. At that point, there were no other seats to choose from. Bummer. But we survived. It was way worse that their entertainment system wasn't working well. I hear they've upgraded it since then.

Oh, cristy, that would be awful! I had a look at the seats that have been pre-selected and both back rows on our flight are already taken. I'm guessing because they are both rows of 2, so no issues with unwanted seat mates. I have my fingers crossed that we can get in the center section so we are sure to have an aisle seat, DD will be up and down to the bathroom the whole flight.
