Air India?

I found some cheap EWR-CDG RT flights on Air India. Has anyone had any experience with this airline? Thanks.

If you like the price and you don't want frequent flyer miles that other airlines offer, go for them. They are a 3 star airline just like the U.S. International airlines.

I used Air India a year ago on a trip to - yo guess it - India. I thought the flights were great and the food was outstanding. Apparently josef312 doesn't agree, but our entire group took Air India to London, then on to Delhi, and returned that same way. We also took in-country flights. We liked Air India and thought the food was about the best we've ever had. And I have flown literally hundreds of flights. So, I am sure opinions will vary upon who is asked.

dropped off a friend for AI flight. she swears she will never touch them again. bad food, horrible service, old seats, bad entertainment, list goes on. first bad sign was a checkin line literally out the door of the terminal in EWR. they only had 2 check-in agents for a full flight with everyone bringing overloaded, oversized baggage to the max (as long-haul flights to far corners tend to have). She was 3 hours early and still barely made the flight. then it was delayed (but delay can happen to anyone). ground service was atrocious.

When you're saving money, your expectations couldn't be unreasonable. Food is not always the best on many airlines. For a budget traveler, I believe that the end result is getting there without breaking the bank! I would definitely recommend Air India.

Air India was a great airline. They even waited for us after we became late to our flight. Food was good, too. I would recommend it to you.

You can earn miles on AI flights with Lufthansa's Miles and More program. They don't count toward status, but M fares and above earn 100%. G&V earn 50%.

Years ago my parents were traveling in India. They were taking an AI flight from Mumbai to a small resort town. It took them 5 hours before boarding the plane. When the 737 was already an hour in the air the pilot announced that they can not land in that town, 'cause the air strip is rather short and the plane has NO BRAKES, and so they would land in a larger city, from which AI will arrange buses for transfer, 4 hours away.....
