Serena website question
Probably a dumb question, but do the Serena rates listed on their website include game drives? I've searched all over that site and cannot get a clear answer.
Thanks!

Not dumb, it's not clear.
Usually if something is extra, i.e., game drives, they'd show a price, but there is none. Even under activities, of which game drives is shown, so too are bush meals, and I believe the latter are at a charge. So can be confusing.
If you wish to book direct with Serena, using shared seating for game drives, then have them clarify what is/isn't included. I'd also ask about the Daily Park Fees, of which there is no mention that I could find.
If using an in-country outfitter or a tour operator in your own country, their pricing usually includes all activities, but here too... always verify inclusions and exclusions.

Thanks everyone. I am just putting together a rough itinerary and budget - not planning to book direct. I did email Serena late last night and they responded that game drives were an extra $80 per drive per person.
On a side note, I have not seen many (ok, maybe none) specials for 2010 for East Africa. Is it too early? When were they generally announced for 2009? Or are the camps/lodges thinking things are going to improve in 2010?

Some accommodations are holding to 2009 rates for 2010, mostly the lux properties. If there are to be any "specials", they might appear by year's-end, or pop up as time goes bye once they see what's what!
Generally the 2010 rates should be trickling in now, so we'll see what happens.
