Hey, now here's a question I can't seem to find an answer to - but no problem, I can turn to the experts!
Idle wondering for my packing list (Kenya/Tanzania June 06)- should I take 'warm' pyjamas (long bottoms, long sleeved t-shirt) or 'cool' pyjamas (shorts/tank top type) for the nights? We are going to Ngorongoro and Mt. Kenya Safari Club which I understand has cool nights - but will the rest of the nights be cool or warm?

Lynda, we were in K&T last June/early July and wore long-sleeved shirts and/or jackets every night, especially in the Crater. Early morning game drives were pretty chilly, too. Jack

When we travel somewhere we think may require us to wear clothes in bed (we usually don't) we simply use the thermal underclothes we've taken. You know the think longjohns and vest that normally go under regular clothes? Taking two of each for each person means you can put them into laundry often so no problem with them not being clean after a couple of weeks...

Lynda, I wouldn't recommend wearing your pyjamas on arly morning game drives. I never wore warm pyjamas to bed at night in June on our safari in Kenya but I traveled with my husband. We always found a hot water bottles in our bed.

I don't wear PJs anywhere, rather just a long T-shirt, as there have always been plenty of warm blankets or down comforters. Many, not all, properties - do provide warm bathrobes if you need to get up middle of the night or to wear in cool morning or late night before leaving your room.

If at the Mt. Kenya Safari Club you will be staying in the Riverside Cottages, they have these wonderful fireplaces that will be set before heading out to dinner; we found them still generating heat in the room on our return. Then there's body heat!

Outdoors at both the Crater and at Mt.Kenya is cold at night, so dress appropriately. We even noticed that the Masai dancers performing for us outside the MKSC bar were wearing socks on their feet.

There are always thermals or yoga pant/top as a PJ alternative.

Wear what you'll find most comfortable and is light to pack.
