Hi! My fiance and I are in our late 20's from US and have been looking into a Morocco trip for a while now. We are hoping to go this month (Jan 2011) and are trying to put a trip together. We have been all over Asia, some parts of Europe, but never to Africa or Middle East.

We are thinking of doing around 8-10 days but everything is flexible for us. We can either fly in through Casablanca or Tangier. We are interested in visiting Marrakech, Fez, and doing an over night in the Sahara & camel ride. Are there any other area that we should not miss?

Also, any recommendations for great vegetarian/health food, beautiful spa experiences, must see gardens, unique cultural experiences, etc?

What would you add/change with this itinerary? Also, is it practical to go from Fes to the Sahara overnight trip (to Merzouga) then to Marrakesh? Or is it more practical to do a roundtrip to and from Marrakesh and maybe fly from Fes to Marrakesh?
Day 1 Casablanca
Day 2 Head to Fes, visit Rabat & Volubolis on the way.
Day 3 Fes
Day 4 Fes
Day 5 Head to Sahara overnight camel trip
Day 6 Sahara to Marrakesh
Day 7 Marrakesh
Day 8 Marrakesh
Day 9 fly home

I noticed that the desert camel trip is at least a 3 day trip, so that will leave us with 2 full days in Fez and a night and a full day in Marrakesh. Do you think that is enough? Also, any idea what time Hammams are typically open until?

I am curious as to how you plan to get to the Sahara for your camel trek, and who you are using for your desert camel trip.

My family and I plan to travel to Fes in late February. We would like to plan an overnight camel trek in the Sahara and are looking for the most affordable way to do so. I am welcome to suggestions from anyone.

Hi Sarah,
Day 5: you need to decide if the dunes you want to see are Erg Cebbi or Erg Chigaga. The former is closer to Fes and the latter to Marrakech. Either way its between a 9 and 12 hour trip in each direction. Doable, but tiring.
Day 6: likely to be very very long (over 10 hours driving). I suggest that you break your journey at Ourzazate or Ait Benheddou. Visit Ait Benheddou in the morning and then head into Marrakech on day 7. You'll still have 1.5 days in Marrakech.
