Need help planning Africa trip

Jump to last reply

Hello fellow travelers,

I have read a few trip reports on Namibia and done some research online. My husband and I are planning a trip to Namibia - our very first trip to Africa. I picked Namibia because my memories of pictures of red dunes and Etosha Park - it seems like a surreal place. Of course we are also interested in sighting game.

This is our tentative plan: fly into Wondhoek. Should we spend any time in Windhoek? Drive to Etosha Park. Need recommendations for where to stay and how long. Some travelers stay at different lodges in the same park; what's the advantage of that?

Next, drive to Swakopmund. Accommodation recommendations on or near the beach?

Drive to to Sossusvlei? Need help deciding whether to stay overnight - inside or outside the park. Sunrise hike? Balloon ride?

We'll have about 7 nights in Namibia. And since we're flying into Namibia through Johannesburg, we're hoping to spend 2 nights in Cape Town.

Thank you in advance for all your suggestions!
