Naibor
Can anyone direct me to the Naibor Camp website...I can't seem to find it. Any comments from those who've stayed at this camp would be appreciated too, <i>and</i> if you can compare it to Rekero, even better. Thanks.

It's located on the south bank of Talek River, not far away from Rekero which is on the north bank, thus game game driving areas don't overlap. Havn't stayed there, so can't compare.

I gave a rather long description of both camps and others on a previous thread here - cannot find it right know!
My pics are here: http://www.go-safari.com/Masai%20Mara/naibor.htm
http://www.go-safari.com/Masai%20Mara/rekero.htm
They do not have designated game drive areas so these may indeed overlap but the two camps try to avoid such encounters!
Most of the year, the Talek is just a stream and their vehicles cross back and forth to follow the wildlife.

Thanks for the link, nyama.
Eben, it was your thread describing these camps (and others) that inspired me to look further into staying at one or the other next year. Here it is again for those interested in a great update on Mara camps etc. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=4

Oh good...I'll look forward to hearing about these camps.
Eben, would you please share what you know in terms of drive times from the Mara to Amboseli? It looks to me that I'd have to go to Nairobi and then back south? I'm trying to figure out an all drive "loop" starting and ending in Arusha that includes some of the northern Tz circuit and some of Kenya. The Tz part isn't a problem to figure out. I'd be crossing into Kenya at the Sirare border and heading to the Mara. But then continuing east back to Namanga (and perhaps sneaking Amboseli and/or Tsavo West) is a puzzle to me. Thanks for anything you can suggest.

Here's the link for Eben's original thread http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34932659
The only route I know from the Mara to Amboseli would be back through Nairobi and it would take you over 10 hours.

I stayed at Naibor in the first week in October 2009 with my family. Basically we were assaulted and robbed in the camp on our last night. The gory details are posted on these links:

http://www.fodors.com/community/afri...-to-expect.cfm
If you want to stay there, i suggest you ask for proof of armed securty or the same thing could happen to you. Lightening does strike more than once. The Entim camp nearby was hit twice. Of course the Naibor management will not tell you this.
The response of management to our incident was disgusting, they (and KATO) played the event down i guess because they "dont want to affect tourism".
