My Finalized Itinerary
First..found a great soft bag. Didn't want to check a bag and wanted to pass this on if this would work for another Fodorite. I am going for 3 weeks and this is all plus a messenger bag. It converts to a backpak or you can tuck the straps in and just have a regular carry on.

Was able to hire Kennedy, thanks to another Fodor friend who gave me his contact info. He will pick me up at the airport when I arrive in Nairobi after my mission. Then take me to the Macushla House, check in and off we go to tour the Elephant orphanage, Giraffe Center, Kazuri beads, KWS Safari Walk and see cheetahs.
I will then probably collapse and fall int a slight coma!
6:00 AM Day 1- 2 Amboseli Porini Camp
day 3-5 Samburu Saruni Safari Lodge
day 6 ( my birthday ) fly to Nairobi, lunch at Karen Cottage, see museum
fly to Kia lodge for one night
6:00 AM- Day 7-9 fly to Olakira Tented Camp
Day - 10 fly to US
I also found the wonderful man who walked me thru this African adventure by email almost daily, on this site! Diederik van den Hoeke with go2africa.
So, there you have it.. a trip of a life time. I puchased the floaty pens, the beany babies for the patients, the thank you cards, the crisp US dollars, binocs, camera, postcards, beige,beige and more beige, the silly hat, yadda yadda yadda....wow....I am almost there, thanks to all of you!!!!!!!

Maxine that sounds fantastic!! When are you going?
I'm planning to stay @ Maclushka next year too so if you're going before me, May/Jun 2011, then I'll really be looking forward to not only hearing about the whole trip but especially your thoughts on the hotel.
Hoping Kennedy will also be my guide in Nairobi.

KathBC, I will be at Macushla next week - think they are getting plenty of good press here on the forum; when I asked - rather told- my op to book me there they could not believe I wouldnt burn though my money at Giraffe Manor or House of Waine. NOT as late as we arrive!
Will let you know upon our return, or if I can get to a computer!
