morocco: too hot in late august?
I am tentatively planning on travelling to morocco during the last week of august. The trip would include Marrakech, and the Sahara for about 4 days. Has anyone been there during this time of year who can comment on the weather. Is it too miserably hot? Does the sun set sufficiently late in the day to allow you to explore the dunes when it isn't at peak temperatures? Thanks for your help!

It will be very hot. It depends on your tolerance for heat to say if it will be "miserable" or not...but expect temps in the high 30s - mid 40s (90s up to maybe 100 or so).
Being close to the equator, Morocco does not get extremely long days even in the summer. The sun will set around 8pm. This will allow you to get out to the dunes and walk around a bit without it being stifling. Remember that the Sahara can get really chilly at night - even in the summer.

We are thinking of a desert trip at the end of June. Is that crazy? We have teens who won't get out of school until then and we would hate to visit Morocco and miss one night in the Sahara.
Our thought was to travel to from Marrakech to Merzouga and spend one night. Thoughts at this time of year?
