I took the Blue Train last fall (but not Rovos). If you want to ask anything about the BT, I am listening.

I wrote about my experience in a trip report.....it is not complete but the Blue Train section is included:

We took Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Capetown almost 5 years ago, and loved it. In fact, we got married while we were on the train in Matjiesfontein -- the staff at Rovos took care of everything for us -- they were just fabulous. We liked it so much that we are going back to southern Africa for our 5th wedding anniversary, and this time, we are taking Rovos from Pretoria to Victoria Falls.

I think that one of the main differences is that Rovos stops at night and BT does not...

thank you very much for your response.

we are thinking of doing either of the trains for my husbands 60th birthday next april combined with a stay at ellerman house and the winelands followed by a quick safari.

i thought it might be a wonderful occasion to remember.
