We took a trip to Botswana thru AAC last May. It was outstanding! It was our first trip to Africa, and we took their recommendations, as well as those we received here, from all of the great people who are a part of this forum. We were not disappointed!! AAC has very reliable people who met us every step along the way, which was really nice, as we were not part of a group, and were in many different airports etc. The accommodations, food, game drives etc. were all first class. Would highly recommend them. While in South Africa we used Rhino Africa. They were great too, and it is my understanding that they also serve Bots & Tanzania. Rhino Africa has very good rates. Enjoy!

Check out Lynda's comprehensive index. You'll find they've been used quite a bit for successful trips.

My comments will not relate to Egypt as I've never been.

I have used them numerous times in the past and everything has been wonderful. Equally as important, when things beyond their control have not been wonderful (just because it's Africa and not everything goes smoothly all the time), they stepped up to fix the problem so it was wonderful once again.

There have been a couple of incidents recently where people using AAC have had to change plans or thought they would have to make last minute cancellations or postponements and they mentioned that AAC was cooperative.

Fixing up problems or last minute changes hopefully will not be part of your situation, but those aspects of an agent are important to be aware of.

I'm not sure how many other companies have experience in both Sub-Saharan Africa and Egypt, if keeping all your travel plans under one roof is important to you. It could not hurt to have another company hear your desires and put something together so that you can compare. Plus it is often a learning experience for you.

You could also post the itinerary here for additional comments.

If you act on that "nice itinerary" that AAC has prepared, I'm sure you'll have a trip of a lifetime.

great info! thanks so much! yes, i have checked w/a fair amount of other companies, some of whom i could tell just didn't really want to deal with the kind of private, specialized itinerary i was looking, even though they claimed to specialize in tailor-made trips. and the others who i did find very efficient and helpful didn't even come close to the prices quoted me by AAC, and even, in some cases, used less expensive accommodations. i'm sure i'll be seeking more advice as i continue this process. we're not traveling 'til january of 2011.

I have used AAC several times (including my departure in 2 weeks). All have been for Africa, so I cannot comment on Egypt. Each of my trips with them has been a trip where I told them where I wanted to go and wanted to stay, combined with their suggestions on routing, etc. They have been great to work with. I am one of the people mentioned above by Lynn that was having to look at rescheduling or cancelling. AAC went to a great deal of work to figure the possibilities/fees for both options, and did so in a very short period of time. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
