Go on travelpod.com and the type in hooktravellers. She wrote a VERY detailed report on her trip. She and her husband and three kids went to Ghana.
I helped her here, on the forum, and we also e-mailed for some months.

I went in December/January and it was very nice. Don't forget that you'll need a visa to get into Ghana. A friend ,of one of my best friends, was all ready to go and got to LAX and while checking in was asked where her visa was. She just looked perplexed. Well, she was not allowed to check in without a visa. So, back across the freeway she went and ended up with no vacation.
I was contacted and told my friend to tell her to contact Travisa, the one in D.C. and have them handle it. They were great when I applied for my visa and when I returned to Ghana the next year, I sent my passport to them to get a new visa issued since the original one stated that it was a single entry one. They contacted me right away, by phone, and said that they'd put a notation on my old visa so that I wouldn't have to apply and pay for a new one. They had already put my passport in the mail system before they had called me. They were very efficient. I entered Ghana with no problem. Happy Travels!
As for the Ghana consulate, I think it was, that's in New York. Don't even try. The person on the phone was the rudest person I'd ever talked to. I was asking a few questions that I really needed answered when I was hung up on.
The person, whom I told to contact Travisa had also contacted the same office in New York and said that the rudeness level was unexceptable and was more than happy to get my Travisa info. atravisa took care of everything and she rescheduled her trip some weeks later and went on to Ghana and had a fabulous time. Happy Travels!

Guenmai have a great time in BA, make sure you visit Colonia Del Sacramento, Ururguay. it is just a boat ride across the river!! One of my favorite places on earth!

We made up our minds to go in October/November. This will give us plenty of time to plan. With only 14 days, can we still manage to see all three areas, Ghana, Togo, Benin or stick with Ghana and one other.

I would absolutely not do three countries in fourteen days. I was in Ghana for 14 days and was in Accra and surrounding areas and then went up to Elmina one day. I didn't even get up north.
Things move slowly and you also have to think about possible sickness. I got sick the first trip, which really slowed me down, and which was also the reason why I went back the second year. If you're going to try to do two countries, then I would do Ghana and Togo. One of my best friends was in Togo in the 70s, building schools in a village, and liked it. She wanted to go over to Ghana, but the border was closed so she wasn't allowed to cross. Happy Travels!
