Clematis Street

If lunching is just as important as window-shopping, the renewed downtown West Palm around Clematis Street that runs west to east from South Rosemary Avenue to Flagler Drive is the spot for you. Centennial Park by the waterfront has an attractive design—and fountains where kids can cool off—which adds to the pleasure of browsing and resting at one of the many outdoor cafés. Hip national retailers such as Design Within Reach mix with local boutiques like third-generation Pioneer Linens, and both blend in with restaurants and bars.

Clothes Pony and Dandelion Toys

The shopkeepers here enjoy playing with the toys as much as their young customers do. This independent shop carries books, imported toys, games, and classics like marbles, dolls, and stuffed animals, as well as adorable clothing.

Cocoa Village

You could spend hours browsing in the more than 50 boutiques here, along Brevard Avenue as well as Harrison Street, which has the densest concentration of shops. Although most stores are of the gift and clothing variety, the village is also home to antiques shops, art galleries, restaurants, breweries, a tattoo parlor, a bakery for pets, and a spa. Most businesses (even the pubs) are dog-friendly.

Coconut Point

A 500-acre planned community is home to one of the area's largest shopping complexes, with more than 140 stores, including upscale boutiques and big-box retailers, as well as plenty of big-name restaurants. There's a boardwalk for a breather between impulse purchases and a castle-theme kids' play area.

CocoWalk

This three-story, indoor-outdoor mall anchors the Grove's shopping scene, and a recent renovation has given it new life. Once filled with cheesy, touristy kiosks and chain restaurants, it's now home to many local shops and some quality restaurants, like Mister 01 Extraordinary Pizza, PLANTA Queen, and Sushi Garage. On the top floor sits Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, a multiscreen, state-of-the-art movie theater with a wine bar and lounge and in-seat food service. Overall, the space mixes the bustle of a mall with the breathability of an open-air market.

Coligny Plaza

South End

Things are always humming at this shopping center, which is within walking distance of the most popular public beach on Hilton Head. Coligny Plaza has more than 50 shops and restaurants, including unique clothing boutiques, souvenir shops, and a Piggly Wiggly grocery store. Don't miss Skillets for breakfast, Frozen Moo for ice cream, and Frosty Frog for drinks outdoors.

Ten miles north of Pensacola's historic districts, this mall is anchored by department stores Dillard's and Belk. There are also more than 125 specialty shops, including the usual mall suspects like Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, and a food court.

The Corner Bookstore

Upper East Side

A literary fixture in Carnegie Hill since 1978, the staff at this charming book nook thoroughly selects current nonfiction and fiction titles among such categories as art, poetry, biographies, cookbooks, and mysteries. Influenced by many families residing in this UES neighborhood, the bookstore puts an emphasis on children's books, even having an area within the store for young readers. The employees are quite knowledgeable, and author readings, lectures, and signings happen here frequently.

Cotton Exchange

Downtown

Once the headquarters for the largest cotton exporter in the world, this historic warehouse complex now comprises a dense concentration of locally owned boutiques and restaurants—nearly 30 of them—in a rambling maze of courtyards and hallways. Clothing and footwear, arts and crafts, gourmet food supplies, books, and comics are all here. While you're here, check out the Wilmington Walk of Fame honoring local celebrities like David Brinkley, Michael Jordan, Charlie Daniels, Roman Gabriel, and nearly a dozen more.

The Country Bookseller

You'll find an excellent regional-history section and plenty of children's titles at this independent bookstore, where you can do a little reading in the small café.

Crane Flat Store

This small store is a convenient place to get gas and pick up snacks and camping supplies if you're arriving via Route 120.

Crystal Cove Promenade

This Mediterranean-inspired upscale strip mall offers a mix of well-known storefronts such as Banana Republic and Trader Joe's, plus unique boutiques, Blk Dot Coffee, and popular restaurants including Javier's, Mastro's Ocean Club, and Bear Flag Fish Co.

The Current

Seaport

Shipping-container-like buildings line a busy stretch of Seaport Boulevard, each housing pop-up shops by local entrepreneurs looking to get their retail ventures off the ground. Container residents change with the season, but may include sweets shops, consignment, jewelry, men's fashions, parfumiers, and more.

Der Teddybär

EPCOT

Although you can buy wines and beer steins in the Germany pavilion, they don't provide the warm, fuzzy feelings that the teddy bears on display here do. Bears (or "bärs") share the boutique with Rapunzel and Snow White snow globes and plush toys, Minnie dolls and figurines, and German confections.

Desert General

This contemporary take on the old-timey general store opened in 2022 and stocks an eclectic array of gourmet food, books, games, novelties, and canvas desert hats. It also sells household necessities including a lot of environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and sustainable everyday items. In addition, it emphasizes local vendors and community involvement through collaborations and exhibits. While you're here, check out other occupants of Corner 62, a renovated retail complex, such as Scorpion Lollipop (candy/gifts), Pisces (swimwear), and The Moon and the Mat (yoga studio).

Design Archives Emporium

Downtown

You won't make it far through this maze of vintage, handmade, and local craft dealers without something catching your eye, possibly an antique ceramic animal, pair of statement earrings, or a T-shirt that reads "I Kinda Like Greensboro." A smaller curation of interesting objects is open to browse next door on weekends, while a second store serves Winston-Salem shoppers at  636 W. 4th St.

Destin Commons

This open-air lifestyle center features more than 80 shops and restaurants, an AMC theater, and a pirate-themed playground for kids. You can't miss the mega-size Bass Pro Shops, a two-story extravaganza that includes an aquarium and a massive selection of outdoor gear, from boats to clothes to fishing hooks. Also on-site is Uncle Buck's FishBowl & Grill, an underwater-theme bowling alley and restaurant.

Dinostore

Islands of Adventure

Above a juvenile chorus of "I want this!" are adults counseling their kids on what they actually need. That can be a monumental task in this large store, which is packed with dino hats, shorts, necklaces, cards, mugs, squirt guns, figurines, and the clever T. rex T-shirt emblazoned with the helpful suggestion "Bite Me." Rest assured there are educational dino toys, too.

Disney's Pin Traders

Disney Springs

Many cast members and guests share (and wear) a common interest: pins that reflect favorite characters, special events, and all things Disney. Often affixed to lanyards, these pins are a curiously treasured part of Disney's subculture, with owners buying and swapping pins the way kids used to trade baseball cards. This Marketplace shop is one of the premier pin-trading destinations at Disney—and where you can also buy Mickey ears and peruse an astounding array of MagicBands.

Dolly's Bookstore

For many returning visitors, the first stop in town is Dolly's Bookstore to check on the two cats: Dolly and Pippi Longstocking. Oh, and to browse a great selection of regional books as well as national bestsellers. Dolly's also has a uniquely complete selection of children's books and toys. While you are at it, swing through neighboring Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Dottie Doolittle

Pacific Heights

Mothers shop here for charming silk dresses and other special-occasion outfits for their little ones. Less pricey togs for infants (boys to size 12 and girls to size 16) are also for sale. There are lots of fun toys, from stuffed animals to mini picnic sets, worth glancing at as well.

Downtown at The Gardens

This open-air pavilion down the street from The Gardens Mall has boutiques, chain stores, a grocery store, day spas, a 16-screen movie theater, and a lively restaurant and nighttime bar scene that includes the Yard House, which stays open late. A carousel, children's barbershop, boutiques, and Cool Beans (an indoor playground) make this a family-friendly mall.

Downtown Gulfport

It's hard to believe that this vibrant waterfront enclave between St. Pete Beach and St. Petersburg proper was once a blighted fishing village. Today, Beach Boulevard, its main thoroughfare, is home to a good many locally owned boutiques, galleries, and eclectic eateries. There's an Art Walk every first Friday and third Saturday of the month, a farmers' market every Tuesday, and lots of other cool events throughout the year.
