The Space

Little Italy

This spacious warehouse bears the James Coffee logo on the front and the intoxicating scent of its pour-over brews inside, but the building houses more than just the local coffee roaster. Its tenants rotate every so often, but currently include a bookshop, full-service salon, chiropractor office, and other small businesses and pop-ups throughout the year.

St. Johns Town Center

Southside

With more than 175 dining and retail establishments, this outdoor "lifestyle center" is huge, and some of its shops aren't found anywhere else in northeast Florida. Look for Anthropologie, Apple, LEGO Store, Lululemon, Nordstrom, Peleton, Sephora, and Tesla. Restaurant choices range from fast-food places to sit-down restaurants such as the Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, The Capital Grille, and Maggiano's Little Italy.

St. Philip's Plaza

Foothills

More than a dozen chic boutiques and galleries are arranged around Spanish-style outdoor courtyards at St. Philip's Plaza. Union Public House, serving food and drink into the wee hours, and Reforma Cocina y Cantina are located here, as is a farmers' and artisan market on weekend mornings.

Tanger Outlet

If you are a dedicated outlet shopper, head to Tanger Outlet in North Charleston. This spiffy, contemporary outdoor (but covered) mall houses 80 name-brand outlets like Le Creuset, LOFT, J.Crew, Under Armour, and Saks OFF 5TH.

Trolley Square

The wares in this converted historic railyard near Central City, not far from trendy 9th and 9th, run the gamut from estate jewelry and designer clothes to bath products and fine groceries. Stores include chains and indie boutiques, such as Pottery Barn, Weller Books, Tabula Rasa, and an assortment of restaurants, as well as Whole Foods.

The Village at Wexford

Upscale shops, including Lilly Pulitzer and Le Cookery, as well as several fine-dining restaurants can be found in this established shopping area. There are also some unique gift shops and luxe clothing stores, such as Currents, Evelyn & Arthur, Island Child, and John Bailey Clothier.

Village District

Cameron Village

Raleigh's first shopping center continues to reinvent itself with new upscale boutiques and restaurants. Expect everything from home decor to yoga studios to locally roasted coffee.

Village Shops on Venetian Bay

Stroll along the classy boutiques that line the water's edge, and grab a bite at one of the excellent restaurants, all with fantastic views.

Wailea Village

This open-air shopping hub is mere steps from the area's more established mall, The Shops at Wailea. Retailers include home-decor favorite Hue, Bikini Market; there's also an art gallery. Akamai Coffee will put some pep in your step, Manoli's Pizza is a great spot to grab a slice, and the Tikehau tiki lounge is a true cocktail destination. Wailea Urgent Care is open from 8 am to 8 pm daily and accepts walk-in patients. The shopping center also hosts the Sunset Market—featuring outdoor vendors, music, and other fun—every first Thursday evening of the month and a farmer's market every Tuesday morning.

Waipouli Town Center

McDonald's is the focus of this small retail plaza, which fronts Kuhio Highway and also houses Waipouli Deli and Restaurant, Sherwin-Williams Paint, and AutoZone.

Ward Village

Ala Moana

Heading west from Waikiki toward downtown Honolulu, you'll run into a section of town with distinct shopping-complex areas; there are more than 100 specialty shops and around 40 eateries here. The Ward Entertainment Center features 16 movie screens, including a state-of-the-art, 3D, big-screen auditorium, and all theaters have reclining chairs and access to an extended food menu and alcoholic beverages for those of age. The South Shore Market is a contemporary collection of local shops and restaurants, plus T. J. Maxx and Nordstrom Rack. For distinctive Hawaiian gifts, such as locally made muumuus, koa-wood products, and Niihau shell necklaces, visit Martin & MacArthur and Na Mea Hawaii. There's also free parking around the entire Ward Village, though sometimes you have to circle for a while to find a spot. Valet parking is also available.

Waterside Shops

More than four dozen upscale stores as well as eateries wrap around a series of waterfalls, waterways, and shaded open-air promenades. Saks 5th Avenue and Nordstrom are the main anchors; Tiffany & Co., De Beers, Ralph Lauren, and St. John are in the mix.
