Vilebrequin

Upper East Side

Allow St-Tropez to influence your summer style. This iconic French swimwear designer began by making classic striped, floral, and solid-color trunks in sunny hues, first for men and then later on for boys. Nowadays, it has expanded to include girls' and women's lines, resort wear, and summer accessories. The brand also has a Hudson Yards location.

The Village at Wexford

Upscale shops, including Lilly Pulitzer and Le Cookery, as well as several fine-dining restaurants can be found in this established shopping area. There are also some unique gift shops and luxe clothing stores, such as Currents, Evelyn & Arthur, Island Child, and John Bailey Clothier.

Village Peddler

This shop has a "chocolatorium," where you can learn all about cocoa. It sells fudge and other candies and stocks a large collection of teddy bears, one of whom is giant and made of chocolate.

Village Shops on Venetian Bay

Stroll along the classy boutiques that line the water's edge, and grab a bite at one of the excellent restaurants, all with fantastic views.

Village Store

The Yosemite Valley's largest store has an extensive selection of groceries (including many organic items), household products, and personal-care items. It also has an extensive gift and souvenir shop.

Waikiki Beach Walk

Waikiki

This open-air mall at the west end of Kalakaua Avenue and next to the Royal Hawaiian Center contains 70 locally owned stores and restaurants. Get reasonably priced, fashionable resort wear at Mahina or buy local delicacies from the Poke Bar. Of course, you can pick up T-shirts, bathing suits, and casual beach attire here, too. The mall also features free local entertainment on its outdoor fountain stage at least once a week.

Waikiki Beachboy Store

Waikiki

Tucked away in the Royal Hawaiian’s lobby, this tiny shop is a great place to pick up a memento of your surf lesson. It's filled with a variety of high-quality Waikiki Beach Services gear, including the best-selling logo rash guards and T-shirts of the type worn by their beachboys and surf instructors. There's also a selection of locally designed bathing suits from Pualani Hawaii, swimwear from the Colombian brand Maaji, accessories, sunscreen, and original artwork.

Wailea Gateway Center

Located at the top of Wailea, this center is comprised of commercial offices and a handful of fantastic dining options. Although lunch at chef Peter Merriman's Monkeypod is reason enough to venture here, you might also be enticed by eateries including Pita Paradise, Oao Sushi Bar, and the Market Maui.

Wailea Village

This open-air shopping hub is mere steps from the area's more established mall, The Shops at Wailea. Retailers include home-decor favorite Hue, Bikini Market; there's also an art gallery. Akamai Coffee will put some pep in your step, Manoli's Pizza is a great spot to grab a slice, and the Tikehau tiki lounge is a true cocktail destination. Wailea Urgent Care is open from 8 am to 8 pm daily and accepts walk-in patients. The shopping center also hosts the Sunset Market—featuring outdoor vendors, music, and other fun—every first Thursday evening of the month and a farmer's market every Tuesday morning.

Wander North Georgia

Located in an old hardware storefront in downtown Clayton, this fun and eclectic outdoor shop offers a little something for everyone—from hiking and camping gear, to books and gift items, to local food and beer. There’s even a kids play area, ice cream shop and axe-throwing venue on premises.

Ward Village

Ala Moana

Heading west from Waikiki toward downtown Honolulu, you'll run into a section of town with distinct shopping-complex areas; there are more than 100 specialty shops and around 40 eateries here. The Ward Entertainment Center features 16 movie screens, including a state-of-the-art, 3D, big-screen auditorium, and all theaters have reclining chairs and access to an extended food menu and alcoholic beverages for those of age. The South Shore Market is a contemporary collection of local shops and restaurants, plus T. J. Maxx and Nordstrom Rack. For distinctive Hawaiian gifts, such as locally made muumuus, koa-wood products, and Niihau shell necklaces, visit Martin & MacArthur and Na Mea Hawaii. There's also free parking around the entire Ward Village, though sometimes you have to circle for a while to find a spot. Valet parking is also available.

Water Tower Place

Long considered the pinnacle of Chicago shopping, this multistory mall is so much more than a gathering of great retailers; it's also home to Broadway Playhouse (where you can see Broadway-quality touring shows), The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Chicago (known for amazing tea service), and a few restaurant and snack options. Regardless of these extras, you're going to want to shop. If you have kids, the LEGO Store is a must, as is the flagship American Girl Place store (it has a café and theater all its own). Fashion seekers can go to the usual faves: Aeropostale, Express, Forever 21, and Hollister California.

Wawona Store

The Wawona area's only market carries essentials (for some, that means ice cream) in its grocery section. There's also a gift shop.

Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes

Universal Studios

Practical jokes and novelties are a never-ending source of amusement—at least for the person who owns them. This is where you can stock up on cheap gags that'll keep you entertained (and others annoyed) for weeks. Highlights included Pygmy Puffs, U-No-Poo pills, Skiving Snackboxes, Puking Pastilles, Sneakoscopes, Bombtastic Bombs, Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder, Decoy Detonators, Extendable Ears, chattering teeth, and whoopee cushions. It's everything a kid (and some juvenile adults) could ever want.

This mall that sits between Beverly Hills and Brentwood is home to dozens of great stores, restaurants, and a massive movie theater. The best options here include L.A.'s iteration of Eataly, the ultimate Italian market; Din Tai Fung, an award-winning dumpling house; and Shake Shack, the famous East Coast burger joint. Some unique stores include a Tesla showroom, a Peloton shop, and the new Venus et Fleur flower boutique.

Westfield Topanga

Shopping malls and The Valley are forever linked thanks to Valley Girl and other iconic '80s flicks. If you feel your trip to the 818 isn't complete without a shopping spree, this is the best of those bastions of capitalism still standing due to a recent renovation, the best collection of high-end designers in town after Rodeo Drive (Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta, Christian Dior, Hermes, Tiffany), a med spa, and L.A.'s biggest Nordstrom. The state-of-the-art movie theater has a bar and concessions delivered to your seat. Pinstripes offers bowling and bocce. Topanga Social, a huge food hall, is brimming with trusted local proprietors like Jinya Ramen, Amboy burgers, Katsu Sando, Slab, and singer Christina Milian's Beignet Box.

Westfield UTC

La Jolla

This popular outdoor mall on the east side of I–5 has more than 150 shops and 40 eateries, plus an ArcLight Cinema and a children's play area. In addition to on-trend fashion stores, it features landscaped plazas, alfresco dining restaurants, wellness amenities, office space, movie theaters, and a trolley station that connects Westfield UTC to downtown. Nordstrom and Macy's anchor the center, and specialty stores of note include Louis Vuitton, CHANEL Fragrance & Beauty, Restoration Hardware, and Apple. One of the country's greenest shopping centers, UTC has lush gardens, open-air plazas, and pedestrian-friendly walkways.

Westfield World Trade Center

Financial District

New Yorkers typically talk about the Oculus as the sprawling transportation hall housed under a soaring atrium that resembles a prehistoric skeleton. In truth, the interconnecting subway and commuter rail lines lie only at the periphery. What's actually under those ribs is the Westfield World Trade Center luxury shopping mall that houses stores like Apple, Breitling, COS, Sephora, Tumi, and many more. Seasonal exhibits, art installations, and occasional events are hosted on the giant atrium floor. Dining options include Epicerie Boulud and Eataly at the base of 4 WTC (on the site's southeast corner). You'll find Devon & Blakely café and the British sandwich chain Pret a Manger in the West Concourse, which leads to the PATH station and trains to New Jersey. The Oculus is connected by an underground passage to the Fulton Center, which has a mezzanine-level food court with one of Lower Manhattan's two Shake Shacks.

Westside

Midtown

Most of the high-end restaurants and design shops here are located in and around Westside Provisions District, a complex of former meatpacking warehouses transformed into bustling stores.

White Label Vinyl

With black cement-block walls and a white drop ceiling, this no-frills record store isn’t going to win any awards for interior design, but what it lacks in the looks department it makes up for in inventory. Well-organized bins of new and used vinyl teem with rock, punk, rap, and jazz classics and recent hits. There are also small sections of preowned CDs and DVDs as well as a rack of T-shirts.

White's Mercantile

This folksy-chic boutique has the feel of an upscale general store. Owned and curated by country singer/songwriter Holly Williams (daughter of Hank Williams Jr.), every item reflects her style. There are decanter sets with deer and geese on them, candles scented like leather and tobacco, and flannel throw pillows fit for any frontiersman with taste.

Whitney & Winston

Beacon Hill

This too-cute—and a bit bohemian—mom-and-kid clothing store features looks from fairly expensive, small brands, and there's no question as to its place in Beacon Hill society. This is where the neighborhood women come to buy frocks that aren't made to be worn to the office. There's also a nice selection of toys and kid gift items, including stuffed animals and sensory jars.

Whole Earth Provision Co.

West Austin

Get yourself outfitted for your sun- and fun-filled Austin adventures, whether its paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake or running the greenbelt trails, at this beloved local sporting goods, clothing, shoes, and overall outdoor preparedness store. The local branch of a Texas chain, it carries a lot of the same things you'd find at any REI—backpacks, sun hats, running shoes, rugged clothing—but it's much more entertaining. Jazz is on the speakers, the front space is filled with kids' toys (and a few for adults), and there's a good variety of books, gifts, and gadgets for all ages. The staff is laid-back, friendly, and ever-willing to help.

whopaints

Wendilee Heath O’Brien's paintings in watercolor, oil, pastel, Asian ink, and kinpakku (Japanese traditional gold leaf) are sold at her studio gallery, where visitors often catch the artist at work and are welcome to listen in if she's teaching a class. Many works depict Down East landscapes, perhaps with people or children in the scene, but her repertoire includes abstract painting, still life, and portraiture. There are notecards featuring her work (buy 10 and get one free!) and pottery pieces by another artist. A whimsical garden path leads to the year-round gallery aside the painter's home on Winter Harbor’s Main Street.

Wicked Whoopies

Sweeten your visit to Freeport with a taste of Maine’s official state treat: the whoopie pie, consisting of two small cake rounds with a creamy filling. The selection here includes the classic chocolate cake with vanilla filling as well as some 20 enticing variations, including banana cream, mint, red velvet, and peanut butter. These discs of deliciousness come individually packaged, making them great for gifts as well as on-the-go snacks.

The Wicker Park Secret Agent Supply Co.

Wicker Park

Outfit your aspiring sleuth with the necessary spy paraphernalia and secret agent supplies—such as mirror glasses, fake mustaches, and voice amplifiers—as well as stationery, books, and puzzles at this shop run by writer Dave Eggers's nonprofit group 826CHI. Proceeds help fund the group's after-school tutoring and writing programs for kids.

Wilbur's of Maine

Attention, chocoholics! In a big house and barn at the lower end of Main Street, you'll find a wonderland of tempting treats, including chocolate-covered blueberries, turtles, almond butter crunch, truffles, fudge, and many more old-fashioned confections. They're all made by a dozen chocolatiers working in the adjacent barn; ask about taking a factory tour. Wilbur's has a second shop downtown on Bow Street.
