Strapping

Midtown

The people running this packed-to-the-gills shop are as jolly as the housewares, cards, knickknacks, and souvenirs on display. Sacramento socks, T-shirts, and other local products are sold here, too.

Sugarbush Farm

Take the Taftsville Covered Bridge to this farm, where you can learn how maple syrup is made and sample as much as you'd like. The farm also makes excellent waxed cheeses.

Recommended Fodor's Video

Sugarloaf Mills

Twenty-five miles northeast of Downtown Atlanta, this outlet mall has stores that include Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Levi's, and Bass Pro Shops.

Sunset and Co.

Alamo Heights

Previously known as Sunset Ridge Home and Hardware, the name Sunset & Co. may be new, but it's the same wonderful place to browse to your heart's content. The store seems endless, brimming with gifts and accessories for him and her, bath and body products, travel bags, clothing and accessories for babies and kids, and more. Home decor and accents abound, as well as hardware, Weber grills and accessories, coolers, tool sets, organizational and storage products, and high-end cooking appliances.

Super Silly Stuff

Universal Studios

Talk about truth in advertising: this colorful gift shop tied to Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is filled with what seems to be millions of cute minions (both one-eyed and two-eyed) on T-shirts and mugs and in the form of stuffed dolls. Gru fans can also find a black-and-gray scarf like the one worn by the supervillain. If you feel it's too hot in Florida for the actual scarf, buy a T-shirt with one silk-screened onto it.

Surf N Sea

This water-sports store has everything you need for an active vacation under one roof. Purchase rash guards, swimwear, T-shirts, footwear, hats, and shorts. Book scuba-diving tours and lessons and rent kayaks, snorkeling or scuba gear, spears for free diving, surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, and bodyboards. Experienced surfing instructors will take beginners to the small breaks on the North Shore beaches, with their notoriously huge (winter) or flat (summer) waves. Warning to fishing enthusiasts: a fishing pole is the one ocean apparatus this shop doesn't carry.

Surf, Wind and Fire

This fun outfitter sells clothing designed for the outdoors, from brands like Patagonia and Free Fly, plus outdoor gear and attractive New Bern souvenirs. The in-store Surfing Pig taproom includes sidewalk seating and stocks local craft beers.

Sweeties Downeast

Colorful gummies, circus peanuts, swirling lollipops, jelly beans, a chocolate lobster bake, homemade fudge, and much more fill the shelves and jars at this wacky fun candy store. Black-and-white patterns and bold colors combine in theatrical displays inside, outside, and in the store windows, making this shop front hard to miss.

Szalay's Farm and Market

This friendly farmer's market, established in 1931, operates from June through Halloween and sells fresh-picked corn by the bushel, fruits and vegetables, pumpkins, flowers, and locally made baked goods. In summer, they sell roasted sweet corn and fresh-squeezed lemonade every weekend and during autumn, fresh cider and apple fritters. They also serve sandwiches and ice cream at outdoor tables where you can sit and order lunch.

The T-Shirt Deli

Bucktown

Order a customized T-shirt with iron-on letters or throwback '70s decals. Your creation will be served to you on the spot, wrapped in paper like a sandwich, and packed with a bag of chips for good measure.

Tanger Outlets

There are two separate sections to this popular shopping center: Tanger Outlet I has more than 40 upscale stores, as well as eateries like Olive Garden, Panera Bread, and Longhorn Steakhouse. Tanger Outlet II has Banana Republic, the Gap, and Nike, along with dozens of other stores that offer great discounts for shoppers.

TangerOutlets

The 70-plus outlets here include Nike, Michael Kors, Polo Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, and Under Armour.

Tatooine Traders

Disney's Hollywood Studios

The Star Wars theme is strong in this desert dome shop outside the Star Tours ride. Guests of all ages can build their own single or double lightsabers complete with crystals, hilts, and blades. And what's a lightsaber without a droid to share it with? So build a droid as well. Collectible pins, books, action figures, art, clothing, and Vinylmation characters are also popular here. Don't feel up to the long line and price of building a lightsaber in Galaxy's Edge? The lightsabers here might not be as intricate, but they will still please younglings—and their parents' wallets.

Temecula Olive Oil Company

Ranch tours and complimentary tastings of locally pressed olive oil are offered at the Temecula Olive Oil Company, where you can find a selection of oils seasoned with garlic, herbs, and citrus. This Old Town shop has dipping and cooking oils, locally crafted oil-based soaps and bath products, a selection of preserved and stuffed olives, and house-made wines.

Terra Toys

North Austin

Make-believe has never seemed as real as it does in this hometown toy store. Imaginations ignite amid shelves of dump trucks and rainbow-bright kites, pretty pink castles and music sets, and an unreal amount of children’s books. Nostalgic adults will love the selection of novelty candy: Razzles, Smarties, and Pop Rocks instantly bring to mind sunny summer childhood days. The staff is full of kids at heart, who are helpful and knowledgeable about the store’s inventory and who are always ready to make suggestions or, if you twist their arm, play for a while.

Thinker Toys

Southwest

Billing itself as Portland's "most hands-on store," Thinker Toys offers puppets, games, educational toys, and a large wooden playhouse that kids can hang out in.

Time Travel Mart

Echo Park

You probably won’t find anything useful in the Time Travel Mart, and that’s exactly the point. From dinosaur eggs to robot milk, this is a store that touts the absurdly hilarious—all of which should bring back memories of your childhood and maybe a little bit of joy. That's because the store holds a secret: it’s really a fundraiser for the nonprofit 826LA, which tutors neighborhood kids in the back section. So buy something unnecessary but absolutely wonderful, for a worthy cause.

Tin City

Near Fifth Avenue South, a collection of tin-roof former boat docks along Naples Bay has more than 30 boutiques, eateries, and souvenir shops, with everything from jewelry and T-shirts to Jet Ski rentals and seafood.

Tower Hotel Gifts

Disney's Hollywood Studios

After the screams and thrills of the Tower of Terror, what could be better than a mug from the hotel bar, the actual bell from the front desk, or a leather key fob from "your" room. In addition to leather handbags and bellboy hats, you can find some rather macabre takes on Disney characters that are exclusive to this shop.

Town Hardware and General Store

Inside three 1920s-vintage brick buildings, this mix of a small-town hardware store and gift shop, which opened in 1928, sells hard-to-find tools like scythes and push plows, along with cast-iron cookware, Case knives, and Radio Flyer red wagons.

Town Square

South Strip

Constructed to resemble Main Street America with open-air shopping and dining, this 100-acre complex contains more than 150 shops, including MAC and Sephora cosmetics, H&M, Apple, Saks Off Fifth, and Tommy Bahama. When you tire of shopping (or when the kids do, anyway), there's also a children's play area, a multiplex cinema, and rides on the Town Square train. Lazy Dog lets you bring Fido on the patio, while Yard House brings pub fare. There's also a Brio Italian Grill, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, and several other on-site eateries, including a Whole Foods Market. The Stoney's Rockin' Country dance and live-music venue fires up the country tunes Thursday through Saturday.  Need to make a quick stop? Town Square offers curbside parking so you don't have to schlep all the way from one of three parking garages to your shopping destination.

Toy Joy

Downtown

This fantastic place is so much the ultimate toy store of your childhood fantasies that it's too good to save for actual children—don't be embarrassed to come in even if you don't have little ones of your own. It's the place to get things like Edgar Allan Poe and Beethoven action figures, vinyl dinosaur figurines, reproductions of vintage toys you played with as a kid, and floor-to-ceiling diversions for all ages, including science toys, metal robots, stuffed animals, costumes, hard-to-find candy, baubles and bangles, and more.

Tren-D

Disney Springs

This boutique has "hip" and "eclectic" written all over it (hence the name), with ever-changing merchandise that gives (primarily teenage) shoppers a chance to wear clothing imprinted with 1980s and ’90s cartoon characters, fashions from the Disney Parks Forever Collection, and chic sundresses with subtle Mickey-ear designs that are perfect for an evening at the shops and clubs of Disney Springs. Designer items are from Billabong, Dooney & Bourke, Harveys (Original Seatbeltbags), and Roxy, with many featuring fairies and princesses.

Tucson Premium Outlets

Northwest

Find good deals on athletic wear from Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour; designer brands like Kate Spade and Michael Kors; and children's wear from OshKosh and Carter's at this large outdoor outlet mall in Marana. A play area, a few eateries, and a Disney outlet store will keep kids happy.

Tuolumne Meadows Store

The only retailer in the high country carries backpacking and camping supplies, climbing gear, trail maps and guides, food and beverages, and fishing licenses.

Tysons Corner Center

Virginia's largest shopping mall houses more than 300 stores, from department stores like Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale's to specialty shops like Lululemon and Apple. A true destination mall, retail is only one of the draws here. You'll find more than 50 eateries and restaurants, like seafood centric Coastal Flats and Shake Shack, a 16-screen AMC Theatre, and a Hyatt Regency hotel. An outdoor plaza has concerts, a kids zone, and ice skating in winter. Traffic is extremely heavy around the evening rush.

Union Market

Capitol Hill

Arriving in 2012, massive Union Market is a feast for the senses that’s a favorite destination for locals and out-of-town visitors alike. The space offers a smorgasbord of food and drink options, from sushi and piping hot empanadas to Bloody Marys and fish-and-chips. There are butchers and bakers and candles (though not candlestick makers—yet), as well as cheese vendors, microbrewed coffee, and a shop selling spices you’ve never heard of. It’s all made the market enormously popular, particularly on weekends, when parents descend to sip espresso while the youngsters bound around a generous outdoor seating area that features a host of lawn games.

Union Market is part of the new, buzzing Union Market District, filled with restaurants; a pop-up movie theater, the Angelika, which shows new releases and classic favorites; and La Cosecha, a contemporary Latin market two blocks away.

Universal Studios Store

Universal Studios

Like Disney's Emporium in the Magic Kingdom, this sizable store is the last retail outlet you see before exiting the park. Although it doesn't have all the merchandise sold in individual park gift shops, as the park's central shopping destination it does have most of it—and some of the best, including T-shirts, stuffed animals, hats, backpacks, gifts, mugs, and limited-edition Universal trading pins. A big plus is that even if you don't visit IOA, you'll find some of the popular merchandise that's sold primarily at the neighboring park.

University Co-Op

University of Texas Area

The beating burnt-orange heart of Longhorn Nation is on display at this emporium of UT paraphernalia, located in the middle of the Drag on campus. You can find Longhorn-logoed everything at this three-level department store founded in 1896 after a similar co-op at Harvard, from Crocs and floral dresses to $350 pairs of burnt-orange Lucchese cowboy boots. Even if you have no direct (or indirect) connection to UT, stop in if you're in the neighborhood to snag your own UT memento.
