Le Bain
Crowning the Standard Hotel, this two-floor club might not be that easy to get into, but once you're in, you'll be breathing the same oxygen as A-list celebs, lanky models, and the people who love them. The music veers to the house and techno variety, and the views of the Hudson River are spectacular. Oh yeah, did we mention there's a Jacuzzi? Be sure to bring your bathing suit.
Le Caveau
The snug wine bar above the Good King Tavern in Queen Village is the closest you'll get to France while still in Philadelphia. Owner Chloe Grigri painstakingly selects wine to offer by the glass and by the bottle. Her French background affords her access to hard-to-find bottles, which she and her staff pour at very fair prices. The snack selection is also good, especially the French hot dog stuffed into a baguette.
Le Colonial
Down an easy-to-miss alley off Taylor Street is what appears to be a two-story plantation house in the center of the city. Without being kitschy, the top-floor bar successfully evokes French-colonial Vietnam, thanks to creaky wooden floors, wicker Victorian sofas, and a patio with potted palms. It's open Friday and Saturday only, when live music accompanies tasty French-Vietnamese food and tropical cocktails.
Le Midi Wine
Done up in pretty Prussian blue with warm walnut accents, this wine bar/bottle shop channels calm vibes—and if you're still feeling keyed up, a pour or two from the Eurocentric wine list should do the job. Standard wine bar fare like cheese and charcuterie plus a few Spanish-inspired pintxos make up the small food menu.
(Le) Poisson Rouge
Head into the street-level or underground entrances to behold this cutting-edge, multipurpose entertainment and dance emporium, whose name means \"the Red Fish\" (and whose parentheses around \"Le\" remain a mystery). Blending just the right mix of posh notes (lush decor, fine dining), party nights, reasonable pricing, and brave music programming (retro-pop, jazz, electronic, cabaret, rock, folk—even rollicking drag-queen bingo), the Poisson is an essential NYC fixture.
Lee Harvey's
Some say the vibe at Lee Harvey's is more Austin than Dallas, and they mean it as a compliment. Regulars love gathering in the yard of this laid-back, unpretentious dive.
Legend's
Legend's is a casual yet classy sports bar and restaurant in tiny, nautical New Suffolk village, a few miles south of Cutchogue. Wednesday evenings in summer you may want to bring a chair or blanket to the nearby beach to watch the Robins Island sailing race at 6 pm; afterward join the sailors and spectators at the bar. Listen to live music and catch your favorite sporting events on more than 20 flat-screen TVs.
The Legendary Kimbro's Pickin' Parlor
Broken jukeboxes, dusty lamps, countless hand-scribbled mementos thumbtacked to the walls—and, of course, some of the best live music in Franklin. This legendary restaurant, bar, and music venue puts on a show every night of the week; expect to pay a cover to watch the band. Sundays are open-stage: just bring an instrument, and they’ll rotate the players. For great food, local beer, and a genuine everybody-knows-your-name vibe, Kimbro’s is one of a kind.
Legends Corner
Legends in Concert
This venue features high-energy shows by impersonators of pop stars like Bruno Mars, Dolly Parton, Elvis, Garth Brooks, and the Blues Brothers.
The Lei Stand
Come here to feel Hawaii hip. Named after the iconic lei sellers in Chinatown, this bar is part speakeasy, with a sign out front and an entryway that allude to those lei shops. You can buy lei here, and the bright white inner courtyard has two lei walls to enhance that vibe. The rest of the space, though, is a purple-hued, neon-tropical lounge that slays. On the menu are upscale cocktails and small plates, and there's plenty of great people-watching.
The Let's Go! Disco & Cocktail Club
Home to one of the best Italian liqueur collections in the city, The Let's Go is DTLA's newest, and most fun, cocktail bar and dance spot. The space is attached to (and co-owned by) the standout pizza joint De La Nonna, and is the perfect after-dinner spot to drink well-crafted Italian cocktails and dance like the pandemic never happened. Behind the bar is Lee Zaremba, whose cocktail bona fides include opening the legendary Italian drinks spot Billy Sunday in Chicago. Here, you'll find rare amari, superbitter fernets, challenging Italian vermouths, and so many more that are whipped into the tastiest cocktails in the city.
Level 8 Lounge
This rooftop lounge has a sleek, chic sophistication that matches the boutique hotel in which it's set. Enjoy panoramic views of the capital city while you sip a drink from the custom drink menu or nibble on small bites from the bar menu.
Lewie's Burgers & Brews
The Liberty
This East Sixth Street dive bar has a huge back-patio space filled with picnic tables. The on-site food truck, Bat City Pies, serves up Detroit-style pizza. Grab a beer before hitting the town, or end up here for a late-night bite and game of pool. The Liberty also provides a great place to socialize during SXSW with its hip east-side address and it always hosts its share of live music.
The Library
If the college scene is your scene, try a TCU favorite, the Library.
The Library Bar
Inside the Rittenhouse Hotel, this cozy bar has views of Rittenhouse Square and an impressive selection of cocktails (and a great whiskey collection) that makes it easy to lose track of time. Drinks range from classic to innovative, and the dimly lit interior makes this a great spot for after-dinner drinks.
Library Sports Grill and Brewery
Stop by the Library Sports Grill and Brewery for beers brewed on-site.
Lido Bayside Grill
By day, the colorful and chic waterfront alfresco restaurant is an idyllic place to kick back, sip cocktails, and watch bay-side boats and poolside hotties go by. In the evening, lights braided into the surrounding trees illuminate the terrace, sparking a seductive atmosphere. On weekdays from 4 to 7, the bar offers a locals-frequented happy hour.
Life on Mars
Calm, classic, and inviting, this bar is like if one of the city's top radio personalities invited you into his living room to browse his record collection. Opened by KEXP Morning Show host John Richards, the bar sits in a room with walls covered in shelves of vinyl. The bar has cushy blue seats, while the rest of the room opens to big soft booths and a couch-seating area. The drinks include both alcoholic and non, each labeled with the ABV, and all of the food (typical bar apps, burgers, and sandwiches) is vegan. They serve brunch on weekends, and late-night tacos on Fridays and Saturdays.
Life's a Beach
This dive bar brings in a young bunch looking to par-tay. A lively rotation of events and entertainment keeps the good times rolling, including live island-style music, guest bands, karaoke six evenings a week, and open-mic nights. A casual Mexican-food menu with great prices keeps the munchies away.
Lighthouse Cafe
Featured in La La Land, the 2016 musical set in Los Angeles, this onetime jazz bistro now also offers a wide range of live entertainment, adding salsa, country, reggae, and pop to the repertoire. A jazz brunch and live music all day on weekends draw locals and tourists alike. Check out the weekday happy hour specials.
Lighthouse Lounge
A longtime favorite for drinks and live music (sometimes without a cover) amid the bustle of Historic 25th Street, the Lighthouse has comfy seating as well as a long old-fashioned bar and local art on the walls.
LilliStar
End or start your night with views of the Williamsburg Bridge and the Lower Manhattan skyline at this new rooftop bar. LilliStar is an Indo-Australian-inspired venue with DJs spinning vinyl, creative cocktails, and tasty light bites. Make sure to try the Shroom Barbacoa, with spinach and pineapple salsa. The cocktail that's a must-try is the Hot Doggin It, made with tequila, vermouth, tomato water, and mustard-seed agave—it sounds unusual but is perfectly refreshing.
Lily Bar & Lounge
This serenely styled lounge is quite literally at the center of the action in Bellagio. It's smack-dab in the middle of the casino floor, which you can view through windows on two sides. Community-style ottomans lend themselves to conversation. At the bar, expert mixologists pour cocktails made with seasonally fresh ingredients. There's live entertainment from 9 pm to 2 am, Tuesday and Thursday, and 7 to 11 pm, Friday and Saturday. DJs spin Friday and Saturday from 11 pm until the venue closes around 3 am.
Lincoln Hall
The owners of Lincoln Hall transformed a former movie theater into an intimate concert space with great sight lines, an excellent sound system, and a wraparound balcony with seating. The booking is always on point, so it's worth taking a chance on a lesser-known band. A separate bar up front pours preshow pints from local breweries.
The Lincoln Lodge
This comedy showcase started in the back room of a Lincoln Square diner, where for years young comics like Hannibal Buress, Cameron Esposito, and Kumail Nanjiani honed their stand-up. The Lodge now has its own venue in Bucktown, where you can find the next generation of comedians working the room most nights of the week.
