La Rumba

Golden Triangle

DJ-spun, Latin-based dance weekends, with bachata, cumbia, and reggaeton, as well as live salsa Saturday night and salsa classes nightly, is what's on deck at La Rumba.

La Te Da Hotel and Bar

This venue hosts female impersonators (catch Christopher Peterson when he's on stage) and riotously funny cabaret shows nightly in the Crystal Room Cabaret Lounge. There is also live entertainment nightly, featuring a variety of local stars, including the ever-popular Debra in the ultracool Piano Bar.

Laclede's Landing

Much of St. Louis's nightlife can be found in this riverfront area near Downtown. Popular with the under-30 crowd, bars here are chaotic, particularly on summer nights and after nearby sporting events. There's also a selection of jazz-, blues-, and dance clubs.

Recommended Fodor's Video

LaCo Tucson

Downtown

Sit under the stars and hear some of the best local talent play folk-rock, blues, and jazz Wednesday to Saturday nights and during weekend brunch hours at this eclectic restaurant and bar in the courtyard of Old Town Artisans. Order from the late-night menu until midnight on Friday and Saturday. As an outdoor venue, they take a summer hiatus between mid-June and mid-September.

Lagniappe

Live musicians croon from the corner, with different bands each evening. Shelves house a selection of boutique-label wines with no corkage fee. Artisanal cheeses and meats are also available for the plucking and can be arranged into tapas-board displays. Once your selection is complete, take it back into the “living room” of worn sofas, antique lamps, and old-fashioned wall photos. Additional socializing can be found out in the “backyard” of mismatched seating and strung lighting.

Lakanuki

Sip mai tais at the tiki bar at Lakanuki, which is in the Village near the gondola. If you're looking for DJs and dancing, this is the closest thing to a nightclub you'll find in Mammoth.

6201 Minaret Rd., Mammoth Lakes, CA, 93546, USA

Lake Placid Pub & Brewery

Upstairs at the Lake Placid Pub & Brewery is a smoke-free zone where you can shoot some pool or have lunch or dinner. Downstairs there's an Irish pub with darts and billiards, and in summer you can sit outside on the deck and bask in the lake views. The beer selection includes the dark-red Ubu Ale, the signature brew here.

Lake Tahoe AleWorX

Self-serve taps let you control the flow of this peppy alehouse's regional to international brews. The craft beer lineups and menus of apps, salads, and wood-fired pizzas and sandwiches are similar at the two locations, in Stateline and 5 miles southwest in South Lake Tahoe, so where to go depends on your mood: in the evening, the former is more barlike and stays open later than the family-friendly latter (see website for address), which has two casual outdoor areas. Both present live music some days.

Lakewood Landing

East Dallas

Officially it's the Lakewood, but most everyone calls it The Landing. There's nothing fancy here, just friendly folks having a good time, surrounded by lots of smoke.

Lamberts

Downtown

Lamberts offers a luxurious take on barbecue in its swanky Second Street historic district locale while offering live music almost every night of the week in their upstairs loft. They host a mix of popular local musicians as well as highly acclaimed acts in an intimate setting and offer a full spectrum of SXSW offerings, including an impressive music-infused brunch.

Lander Bar & Grill

On weekends the Lander Bar & Grill gets crowded with people who come to dance and listen to live country bands.

Lariat Bar and Grill

A local hot spot, this rustic bar has pinball, pool, and video games, plus live music on summer weekends. It's also the only spot in town for late-night eats. Look for the buffalo and dreadlock-adorned fox amid the eclectic Western decor.

Larry Flynt's Hustler Club

West Side

The late porn mogul Larry Flynt’s name is displayed prominently on this massive (70,000-square-foot) three-story den of iniquity, allowing the whole second floor to be a VIP area with sky boxes. The main floor, lined with discretely curtained lap-dance areas, has a circular main stage, a pod stage, and even two (covered) dancers on top of the main bar top. There’s an attached Hustler Hollywood store with all manner of exotic clothing and sundry sexual accessories. The high-profile location—it's right alongside Interstate 15 with its name in giant lights—may also help explain cover charges around $50 a person. Thursdays through Saturdays find the Kings of Hustler male revue up on the third floor, where \"girls night out\" parties can watch male dancers. The rooftop hosts the Terrace Mediterranean restaurant and dance club action with DJs. The club has been offering shuttle rides to nearby pro hockey and football games, and drink bargains to entice early arrivals before 9 pm.

Larry Lawrence

It might be hard to find this hidden bar, but traverse the long, bare hallway and you're in for a treat. The high-ceiling space is generally filled with cool locals drinking beers on the chunky wooden furniture, the voice of Johnny Cash on the sound system, and chill vibes all around. Check out the custom-built roof terrace; it has a window that allows you to peer down into the bar below.

Las Toxicas

West Side

Strip-club old-timers will remember this location as Cheetah's (featured in that pinnacle of late-20th-century cinematic excellence Showgirls). It has now adopted a niche approach, catering to those who like their dancers with Latina spice.

Laser Wolf

Downtown

Far from the main drag of Fort Lauderdale's nightlife district, Laser Wolf celebrates the urban grit on the other side of the tracks as an artsy, hipster, craft-beer bar. It's located on the railroad tracks in a cool indoor-outdoor space and might be the most popular bar for locals because of its great drinks, music, and overall vibe. Motto: "Yes beer. No jerks."

Drive or Uber it here. It's best not to walk from other bars off Las Olas and Himmarshee due to distance and safety concerns.

Last Dollar Saloon

A favorite après-ski destination, the Last Dollar (locals know it as "The Buck") has lots of beers, great margaritas, and a rooftop bar with phenomenal views.

The Last Hurrah

Downtown

Whiskey (loads of it), wine, and atmosphere: they're all staples within this bar at the Omni Parker House hotel, where mahogany club chairs and silver-tray service might make you feel a bit rich. The Last Hurrah also serves up tradition—many politicians across the 20th century stopped in regularly to drink and do business at its various past locations within the Parker House.

Last Saint

One of the driving forces behind Last Saint was the desire to create an all-star bar team: its members reliably put out some of the city's most sophisticated cocktails, even if they're often tinged with tropical silliness.

Latchis Theatre

This movie theater's architecture represents a singular blending of art deco and Greek Revival style, complete with statues, columns, and 1938 murals by Louis Jambor (1884–1955), a noted artist and children's book illustrator. The Latchis hosts art exhibits, streams live events, and has four screening rooms. For a sense of the theater's original grandeur, buy a ticket for whatever is showing on the big screen. Though the space may not be a state-of-the-art cinema, watching a film here is far more memorable than at any multiplex.

Late Air

Featuring natural wines from regions around the world by the glass or bottle, this fun, funky wine lounge is revitalizing nightlife in Ardsley Park. Chef Juan Stephenson pairs the wine list with a revolving menu of small plates that keep refined palates busy into the night.

Late Bar

Enjoy late-night music, potent martinis, and Gothy vibes? Late Bar, located along a somewhat lonely stretch of Belmont Avenue, is the place for you. The best time to come is Saturday night, when the club is bumping with New Wave classics until 5 am.

Laugh Boston

Seaport

More than 300 people per show can share a laugh with the local comics and national headliners who take the stage at one of Boston's favorite comedy clubs. Doors are open to anyone ages 16 and older because comedic material is typically R-rated. There's no food or drink minimum, and the bar opens one hour before showtime.

The Laugh Factory

Lakeview

This outpost of the Laugh Factory is part of the chain of comedy clubs that has locations in Hollywood and Las Vegas, among others. Shows like Chicago's Best Standup, The Nasty Show, and Latin XL take place throughout the week while national headliners also appear regularly.

Laughs Comedy Club

This small comedy venue attracts well-known national comedians on weekends and keeps a good flow of local talent and up-and-comers on weeknights. Headliners usually play two shows per night, which makes last-minute tickets easy to find. Box office prices are generally reasonable, though the ticket price doesn't include the two-item minimum order for each person. Unfortunately, the food is not anything worth recommending, so grab a few drinks and plan to eat before or after the show.

LaurelThirst Public House

East Burnside/28th Ave.

Regulars crowd this chatter-filled brewpub to sip well-crafted beers, sit in cozy red booths, and listen to folk, jazz, country, or bluegrass music on its tiny stage. There are pool tables in an adjoining room.

Lavelle's Taphouse

Downtown

This hip downtown bar boasts 36 taps that highlight a range of Alaska breweries, while the walls feature black-and-white images of Fairbanks history. The small space attracts a younger crowd and fills up quickly with seating spilling out on the sidewalk. TV monitors show sports games, and food trucks park outside in summer.

Lavender Lake

Built by a group of set designers who occupy an adjacent studio, Lavender Lake's main draw is its fabulous back patio. When the weather is nice, well-turned-out local residents sip craft beers and excellent cocktails under a string of lights outside; during the day, it's a chill place to read a book or play a board game. The fried brussels sprouts get thumbs up, but the kitchen is hit or miss.

Laverne's Sports Bar

They call themselves Kona's "dive" bar, but we're not sure we agree. It's fun and kitschy, and locals know this is the best place to dance and drink in Kailua-Kona. With 32 TVs, there's not a sports event you will miss, either. Sometimes Hawaiian and island music headliners perform here, such as local recording artists Anuhea or Rebel Souljahz. Local musicians with followings also draw their "groupies." After 10, DJs spin tunes on the ocean-breeze-cooled dance floor, located upstairs with killer views of the water. The food is decent and includes full meals, such as cheeseburgers or fish-and-chips. They also serve breakfast.

Layla's Bar + Kitchen

A sleek taproom set along Chelan's main drag, Layla's is a hip, convivial destination for local wines, craft cocktails, and inventive bar food.
