The Lower East Side’s artistic spirit is honored with the hotel’s emphasis on art in both the public spaces and the rooms. City skyline views are a highlight, especially from the 14th floor lobby and the 15th floor rooftop pool and bar spread across a 5,000-square-foot terrace.

Room
As is common in this part of lower Manhattan, rooms are on the small side (starting at 300 square feet) but have nice hard wood floors, large windows, and work desks. Residential-style rooms have conveniences like coffeemakers and minibars stocked with locally sourced food and drinks, but air-conditioning can be noisy.
Tip This hotel is a high rise building in a low-rise neighborhood; request a room with a higher floor for views over the rooftops.
Bathroom
Sleek bathrooms have white subway tile, glass-enclosed showers with a rainforest showerhead, and ample mirrors. A marble topped vanity has open storage beneath and bathrooms are stocked with C.O. Bigelow products.

The lobby bar and café offers drinks and snacks.
Pool
The outdoor plunge pool shares a 5,000-square-foot terrace with a bar and lounge area that is very popular on summer evenings. The city skyline provides a dynamite backdrop for a swim.
Dining
Culinary icons from the Lower East Side are featured on the hotel menus, including products from nearby Russ & Daughters and Il Laboratorio del Gelato. The lobby bar and café offers affordable breakfasts (like the classic everything bagel and cream cheese) plus snacks, meals, and drinks including beer and wine.
Drinking
While food is served at the 15th floor Mr. Purple, it’s more of a buzzing bar than a place to go for a quiet meal. Open as late as 4am, it is an indoor/outdoor space with two bars and lots of space to mingle and lounge, including poolside.

It’s also a short stroll away from other interesting downtown neighborhoods, including the East Village and Nolita. Subway access is located at Delancey Street (F, M, J, and Z trains) and 2nd Avenue (F train). Taxis and Uber are widely available in the neighborhood.

An original Lower East Side appetizing shop, Russ & Daughters (2-minute walk) is a neighborhood institution for fresh bagels topped with smoked fish (also try the chocolate babka while you’re there). The Essex Street Market (4-minute walk) is an indoor market where New Yorkers shop for ingredients or sit down for an affordable bite at stalls like Puebla for burritos and Osaka Grub for Japanese street food. Some of the neighborhood’s most desirable tables are found at Wildair (4-minute walk), a cozy and casual restaurant that is a sister space to the acclaimed tasting menu only restaurant Contra.
Bars
Bar Goto (4-minute walk) is a dimly lit bar with a Japanese foundation; come here for the cocktails and stay for the snacks including miso chicken wings. Ten Bells (7-minute walk) is a casual wine bar with one of the neighborhood’s best happy hours.
