Possibly the best thing about staying at Bishop's Lodge Resort, apart from the magical setting, is blissing out at SháNah Spa, a tranquil sanctuary set in the Sangre de Cristo foothills, north of Downtown. The amenities here are extensive, including six indoor and two garden-side outdoor treatment rooms, an outdoor pool for watsu massage, a Native American meditation and massage teepee, and a nicely outfitted gym. Using such top-of-the-line products as Kerstin Florian and Eminence Organic Skin Care, aestheticians perform a wide range of skin-nourishing services, including caviar facials, wild plum–and–parsley eye treatments, and clay body wraps. Both traditional and Ayurvedic massages are offered, along with hair, nail, and waxing in the salon. $130 for a 50-minute massage. There is also a gym with cardiovascular machines, free weights, and weight-training equipment. Classes and programs include cycling, guided hikes, meditation, nature walks, personal training, and yoga.
