Fodor's Review

The lines at lunch attest to the status of this Downtown New Mexican eatery. The rambling, low-doored, and atmospheric adobe dating from 1692 is decorated with folk art, and service is downright neighborly. Even if you're a devoted green-chile sauce fan, consider trying the locally grown red chile the place is famous for; it is rich and perfectly spicy. Specialties include red-chile enchiladas, green-chile stew with potatoes and pork, comforting posole, and their charbroiled Shedburgers. The mushroom bisque is a milder and delicious starter. Homemade desserts, like the mocha cake, are a yummy way to smooth out the spice. There's a full bar, too.
