Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel

$$ | 900 S. Disneyland Dr., Anaheim, CA, 92802, USA

This English Tudor looking hotel is a little prince or princess's dream. It's the castle of Princess Corinne and her white dragon friend named Shadow. She is friends with all of the nearby Disney Princesses, and her story is featured in the lobby and on each floor. Outside there is a pretty rose garden, white gazebo garden, and movie night on the lawn during the summer. Fountains and a pond with koi fish and ducks are serene water features. Princess Corinne invites guests to join her for fireside story time at the grand fireplace lounge on certain evenings, and visits guests on the weekend during Garden Court Bistro's breakfast buffet. She also will come tuck little ones in and read them a bedtime story in the evening. Rooms are sizable; some first-floor rooms open onto interior gardens and a pool area. Some premium rooms have royal headboards and others have castle bunk beds among misty forest walls. A complimentary Dream Machine shuttle takes guests to the entrance of Disney theme parks. Anderson School Hotel

$$ | 18607 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, 98011, USA

A giant indoor pool is a rarity in the Pacific Northwest, making this spot in demand for that reason alone, but the proximity to Woodinville's wine country and location in the sweet lakeside suburb of Bothell are almost as compelling. Like all of the properties from quirky hospitality group McMenamins, the unique art (each room has a name, biography, and custom headboard) and fun story behind the property are part of the draw. However, the sometimes overzealous branding also means the signage is sparse and confusing, so you have to wander to find the brewery, movie theater, and that famous pool.

Pros

  • Unique art
  • Multiple food and drink options
  • Enormous pool

Cons

  • Dated bathroom fixtures
  • Dark hallways
  • Little signage

One of only two hotels in downtown Honolulu, this all-suites high-rise is in the center of the business district, within walking distance of the historic Capitol District, museums, and Honolulu's Chinatown, and a 10-minute drive from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. It's also three blocks from the Aloha Tower Marketplace and the cruise-ship terminal at Pier 10. Accommodations occupy the top 10 floors of the 40-story glass tower, with panoramic views of downtown Honolulu and Honolulu Harbor. Each spacious suite has a separate living area, deep whirlpool tubs, and a kitchenette stocked with cold beverages. Some units have washer-dryers. The revitalized Chinatown area offers foodie hot spots, bars, and art galleries. For travelers with business in downtown Honolulu or cruise passengers departing from Honolulu, this hotel is a convenient option. Remember that downtown is deserted on weekends and at night, so expect to wander to Waikiki or Chinatown for restaurants and activities.
