Eatonton Travel Guide

Right in the middle of the Antebellum Trail, Eatonton is a historic trove of houses that still retains the rare Southern architecture that survived Sherman's torches. But this isn't the only source of pride for this idyllic town. Take a look at the courthouse lawn; it's not your imagination—that really is a giant statue of a rabbit.

The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce provides printed maps detailing landmarks related to Eatonton native Alice Walker, who won the Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Color Purple. It also has information on the many fine examples of antebellum architecture in Eatonton, including descriptions and photographs of the town's prize antebellum mansions, and a walking tour of Victorian homes.
