Most of the tourist shops hold court along Avenida López Mateos beside the hotels and restaurants. There are several two-story shopping arcades, some with empty spaces for rent. Dozens of curio shops line the street, all selling similar selections of pottery, serapes, and the tackier trinkets and T-shirts.
Bazar Casa Ramirez sells high-quality Talavera pottery and other ceramics, paintings by local artists, jewelry from Taxco, wooden carvings, and papier-mâché figurines. Everything here is made in Mexico. Be sure to check out the displays upstairs.
