Fodor's Expert Review Belize Bird Rescue

Focusing on the rescue of parrots, Belize Bird Rescue rehabilitates the birds and, when possible, releases them back in the wild. At any one time, the avian rehabilitation center and bird sanctuary may have up to 200 birds on their farm near Belmopan, including as many as 8of the country's 9 species of parrots, along with some owls, sea birds, and other raptor birds. The center is especially involved in protecting the endangered yellow-head parrot, a subspecies unique to Belize. The owners of the center also operate the on-site Rock Farm Inn B&B to help generate funds to support the program.
