Fodor's Review

A two-minute walk east of Santa Maria del Mar, Cal Pep has been in a permanent feeding frenzy for more than 30 years, intensified even further by the hordes of tourists who now flock here. Pep serves a selection of tapas, cooked and served hot over the counter. Fish dishes are on the pricier side (€35–€50), so stick with green peppers, fried artichokes, garbanzos and spinach; baby shrimp; the trifasic (mixed tiny fish fry); the nonpareil tortilla de patatas (potato omelet); and botifarra trufada en reducción de Oporto (truffled sausage in port-wine reduction sauce). Be prepared to wait for 20 minutes for a place at the counter. Reservations for the tables in the tiny back room are accepted, but the counter is where is action is.
