This popular B&B is the antithesis of the big coastal resorts: the rooms are utterly unique, ranging from Berber-inspired murals to imitations of the Sistine Chapel, but each has character and charm. The center of the island is filled with small towns that escape the attention of most tourists, with Naxxar being a particularly pretty example. It's quite central, so is a good base for exploring the villages, gardens, and palaces that dot the area. A trio of roof terraces, two plunge pools, and free yoga and massage (in summer) remind you there is more to life than shopping and cocktails.
