Waratah Hills Winery
An old tractor shed makes for a picturesque lunch backdrop on the grounds of this well-regarded winery. Start with a wine tasting in the shed before moving on to lunch or a loaded cheese platter; everything on the plate is drawn from the bountiful Gippsland region, including locally farmed lamb, handmade sourdough, and cheeses from nearby. The winery specializes in single-vineyard wines led by its heroes, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and it also distills its own Fish Creek gin, best sampled in a prelunch cocktail. Serving lunch until 3 pm Friday and weekends, and wine tastings 11 am–5 pm (tastings cost A$10, refunded against any takeaway purchases).
