Amrapali Museum
For those who love bling in all its forms and want to spend an hour or two developing Indian jewelry envy, the Amrapali Museum should rank high on your list. Opened in 2018, it was a labor of love 40 years in the making by Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera, founders of the Amrapali Jewelry shops. When the two started the business in 1978 they made it their mission to save family heirloom and tribal pieces from being melted down, as more owners were selling traditional jewelry for quick cash. More than 4,000 items from the 19th century to more modern times, including tea sets, silver tribal belts, and sparkling earrings that could easily be worn as statement pieces today, are on display. Looking for something to take home? The gift shop on the top floor sells vintage silver pieces, much like the ones on display, as well as contemporary offerings from the current Amrapali line.
