Udiapur and Environs

Romantic Udaipur, the major city here, warrants several days or more since the Aravali Hills and the Mewar region are home to several fascinating day-trip or overnight destinations, including the impressive medieval citadel of Chittaurgarh and the remarkable fort at Kumbalgarh. There are several famous temples and religious sites in the area, too, including the spectacular Jain Temples in Ranakpur and Mount Abu and the Shiva temple complex at Eklingji. An overnight trip is recommended for a visit to Mount Abu. Udaipur is a famous white marble center; make time to visit Bhuwana on the outskirts to purchase some wonderful carved marble handicrafts.
