Once the capital of a Jat kingdom, this town, which is very close to the border of Uttar Pradesh, is most famous for its proximity to the Bharatpur bird sanctuary, once a royal reserve, now renamed Keoladeo National Park. Bharatpur town has interesting bazaars, a fort, and several havelis in its vicinity.
