Nothing stands between Tel Aviv's luxury hotels and the Mediterranean Sea except the golden beach and a promenade outfitted with chairs and gazebos. Tel Aviv's hotel row is on Hayarkon Street, which becomes Herbert Samuel Esplanade as you proceed south between the Tel Aviv Port area and Jaffa. Across the street from the luxury hotels are a number of more economical ones. Boutique hotels are becoming more popular and are also centrally located, so you're never far from the trendy shops and outdoor cafés of Ben Yehuda and Dizengoff Streets or the buzzy restaurants and bars of Rothschild Boulevard.
Hotel reservations are essential during all Jewish holidays and are advised throughout the year. Some hotels have parking lots, but a few rely on public lots that can be at least a short walk away.
Located across from the beach, Maxim has simply decorated rooms, many with sea views. While it may not be fancy (and certainly isn't a "design" hotel despite being billed as one), it's one of only a few no-frills, affordable seafront properties in Tel Aviv. There's a continental feel about the place, owing in part to the many languages heard in the lobby when guests come in after a day at the beach.
A location on a side street between Hayarkon Street and Ben Yehuda means this amiable five-story hotel is a short walk from the beach and a growing crop of cafés and restaurants. Rooms have pleasing modern furnishings, and the place has a businesslike efficiency that makes it ideal for short stays. The four fifth-floor suites are good for traveling families.
